Curious how many people are still trying to swing perfectly straight, and how many play for a push/pull on purpose.
I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get any consistently straight swing to even come close to competing. I think HB really sh1t the bed with this game and how swing plane is punished. A pixel out of the line at the top of the swing and the ball shoots out in that direction like 3-4 yards, but you can absolutely yank the swing on purpose and it's like 4-6 yards. Just stupid. I've noticed most of the best players I watch now are just purposely aiming for this terrible swing that should be 20+ yards off target. I'm considering giving up and doing the same because I just can't keep interested in the game as is. But it just feels like such cheese to me to completely take trying to swing straight out of the game.
Just wondering what other people's thoughts are.

Might be the one advantage playing an Xbox! I play for a straight swing and even when I miss by say a whole line width or two it will push/pull by a few metres or more but I'm Ok with that. Adds some realism to the overall experience. I think the gameplay IMO has improved on 2K21 (after being a little critical on release) however there's still some fundamental problems to contend with. Tempo on Xbox for one. My perfect on most shots is a very near edge right slow. Even with my timing stacked on most clubs it doesn't seem to impact my game and am competing on CC-H (having spent all of last year in CC-C). Started in CC-J so slowing moving up the grade. I can understand your frustration however you're doing well to be in Kinetic. I'm interested to see others replies here.

I'm still trying to swing straight, my line is the best it's ever been after months of having a slight push, I think I finally got used to the swing in the game after 4 months

Trick is not aiming directly for the pin, give yourself some leeway on the green if you miss

I def have wayyyy less holeouts in this game but just try to get it on the green within 20 feet to give myself a putt

You pretty much have to attack pins. My problems go beyond the swing plane, though. Still so much of this game that doesn't make sense to me.

Mouse player with a LH avatar.
Still play for the straight swing but KNOW it will seldom be. Does not take much for it to go a bit slow, a tad fast OR completely sideways (the latter normally when I try to "step on it"). Wind and terrain are factors too, but am really enjoying 2K23 even if I am nowhere near where I was in 2K21. That is for all shots except putting.

Also, avoiding the two way miss is huge, If I have a left to right wind, I cannot be slow, so I def aim alot further left and make sure if anything I hit a fast rather than slow, I always play for perfects but I make sure it's not slow.

I try to swing straight when there is no wind, but have to admit that if there is any wind, it aids on how and where I address the directional arrows. I tend to play my best golf when there is wind of 1-7 MPH. Otherwise, I might aim a bit left ore right depending on whether I'm piling up more slows than fasts or vice versa. Also tend to play the green a little bit. If I figure it'll move a bit to the right and there are red lines on the green, I'm more comfortable knowing the green will likely push the ball to the hole if I'm a bit off.
That said, I haven't hit a perfect in two weeks and that was a pitch from a bunker.

I always aim straight as I expect to hit it straight. If I started to aim right because I might fast it a little that's gonna mess up my game in the long run. Hit it Straight and True for the Ice Cold Brew... everyone knows this!

I haven't been around on twitch lately, so I haven't kept up with what's hot at the moment. Thus, I can confirm that I still try to hit straight.
My approach with the game in terms of competition here at TGCT has always been to play the game the way I want to (within the obvious boundaries) and see where that lands me, not caring what others do. I also went for perfects when red fast was en vogue.

I also went for perfects when red fast was en vogue. It's a little like the RF days in terms of cheese. I think playing the RF took a lot more skill than this, though, because you had to learn what each club did with a RF and how the wind would play against it. This is just aim 5 yards off and shank. I really thought this would be something that was patched out pretty quickly because seriously if you look at some of these swings they should literally be 20+ yards off line. I wish I had it in me to just play my game and focus on improving each week. Unfortunately, if I can't see myself having a chance to compete, and by compete I mean win at the highest level, my interest just goes to zero.

I try to swing straight, but usually it's off a bit. One thing I've noticed is that if I pull it left I tend to hit slow tempos, and if I push it right I tend to hit fast tempos. It's not deliberate and sometimes the tempo matches the pull or push, but in a way it sort of mimics playing fades or draws without using the shot shaping thing.

Yeah I've noticed kinda the same thing. The "perfect" swing feels a little slow to me so I tend to get a little push hook at the top of the swing meter. But as soon as I try to aim a little left to compensate I'll get a straight line and fast swing so I miss 15 yards left. I need to give up and start messing with calibration. I didn't want to do anything with it since 2k21 was such a stupid riddle when it came to calibrating.
