I was able to bring this into 2019 using LiDAR and OSM data. It was kind of nice that the OSM had already been traced so it was an easy creation. Was thinking of taking a stab at it unless there was someone else in the community working on it already.
I’ve never played Cap but have always been intrigued to see how Stanley Thompson designed a course on such a severe site. Should be a fun way to study the course.

I remember first reading about this Thompson design in one of the very early volumes of The World Atlas of Golf as a kid. Blast from the past! Written up as one of Canada's premier courses. Of course via a 2D hand drawn routing map the 'severity' of the site was not apparent. This would be the quite the project. Good luck if you proceed!

It’s what got me interested in GCA. Loved looking through it as a kid. Cap always looked so interesting in the plan rendering. Even though the course is close to where I live I’ve never played it. Only walked around the clubhouse area. Majestic place. I’ve made some decent progress on the course in the last few days. Man that site is crazy. It’s going to be a fun course.

Yep. But on a bit of a hiatus. That said, I played Cap for the first time a couple of weeks ago and was able to take a bunch of photos. The course blew my mind. Such an effortless design on an extreme site with over 300ft of elevation change.
I’m tinkering with a bunch of projects right now but haven’t committed to finishing anything. Hopefully make a go at finishing the Cap project some time next year.
