Super detailed. Thanks fargo . This is all really helpful. Very much appreciated. I'll look into the green speed issue. I'll have to check how playable they are at 165. Might be too fast for some of the slopes. Hole 1 - straightened out that fairway spline a little so that there are less angles in that section I guess? It's really weird, that point in your screen grab is a smoothed spline corner, but it's creating that angled fairway edge. I've tinkered with the handles a bit to get it smoother, but that particular point is still giving me a little trouble.
Hole 2 - That's not a bad thought, but it is intended to be a driveable par 4. Can you lay back and not go for it? Sure, but I want people going for it every time. The green itself and the right bunkers are the protection here. If you land on the green and you're in the wrong position, you're going to have a hell of a time making that eagle putt. Hole 3 - Forward tee boxes have been added to every hole. Much better look overall. Thanks to others who gave feedback on that too. Hole 4 - Retaining walls on this hole and the 8th have both been smoothed out and look much better. There truly isn't a good fountain option in this game which sucks. I think I'm just going to remove them. I feel like these fountains are more for your clubhouse entrance than they are to be placed in a pond. I'll take a look at the bunker mound situation here. Not sure if I've updated it since the beta or if the version I'm working on is the same as what you're seeing. Hole 5 - I've added bunkers off the left fairway per sandgroper 's recommendation. I think it adds to the look of the hole and gives it more of a challenge. Off the tee Landing area Hole 6, 7 - Nothing really changed between the version you played and what it looks like now. Maybe some green sculpting, but that's it. Hole 8 - I'm not crazy about adding fairway to the left of the water (strategy explained below) but I do agree 100% with a tree on the right to discourage going for the other fairway. You can still get to that fairway, but now you need to sling a huge fading bender to get it over to that fairway. (Pic 1) Once you're there though, things can get tricky. Now you'll be hitting a pitch shot into pretty shallow-ish landing areas. (Pic 2) The green is now 3-4ish tiered running away from the 9th fairway. I really want to test short iron play on this hole. Hit the 3w or 5w off the tee to get it out there. Then you're second shot in is only about 100 yards, but if you hit it on the wrong tier you're going to have a really tricky putt to get birdie. Hit it on the correct tier, you've got a pretty flat putt and an almost guaranteed birdie. Hit it 2 tiers away, and you'll be happy to get out of this short par 4 with a bogie. (Pic 3) Pic 1 Pic 2 Pic 3 Hole 10 - 100% about the bunker. Still needs work. Hole 11 - fair enough on not liking it. I've since shrunken it significantly. Hard to tell from the photo below. I think I lost about 30 yards of circumference from the resize. Stairs were added at entry points since I launched the beta plus I added one more access point in the front left. Maybe you'll change your mind about it with the changes, maybe not. It's kind of an homage to the 16th at Sleepy Hollow, a course I grew up 20 minutes away from. This green may not look like it in pictures, but it's pretty massive. A little easier to tell in this photo since there are a lot of people on it. Hole 12 - bunker/fairway line fixed. No matter what I try it doesn't produce a perfectly rounded edge, but it's better than it was. I was thinking the same thing about the run off behind the green, but I'm not sure about how I would want it to run off. Downhill? Flat? I was thinking more along the lines of what I had on the driveable par 4 2nd but leftish/behind the green. Hole 13-14 - I can totally see how they feel similar. Very similar strategy for each. Not sure how I would change one of these at this point. I'll have to think about this one a bit.
Hole 16 - I tried using fairway grass straight down to the bottom of the bunker. I tried the version you're seeing on the beta. And now I have an updated third version based on your suggestion. This bunker with the higher rough based on your suggestion is the version I like the best of the three different one's I've tried. Thanks on that.

I notice your green speeds are 157. This is super close to the "fast" speed of 155, so it doesn't really allow schedulers the opportunity to set different speeds for different rounds. I don't know if this could be pushed to very fast. Maybe think about setting the greens to say 165 or 145ish, to open up options. Hi fargo , can you (or someone) explain this a little or point me in the right direction? Why would this speed limit the schedulers? Can they not set it to different speeds if they are 155?

Hi fargo , can you (or someone) explain this a little or point me in the right direction? Why would this speed limit the schedulers? Can they not set it to different speeds if they are 155? Schedulers do not have freedom to select any green speed, they can chose the default speed that you set or one of the pre-defined speeds (very fast 187, fast 155, moderate 134, slow 117, very slow 104). If your course is picked up to be used in a 4 round tournament then the schedulers like to vary the conditions a bit - some days with faster greens, some with slower greens. They also vary wind, fairway firmness etc. If your speed is roughly halfway between two of the pre-defined speeds (145 for example) then the schedulers can select 134, 145, 155. But if it's set at 157 that is practically identical to 155 and therefore there is less scope for varying the conditions.

That makes perfect sense. Very much appreciated.

Updated Beta posted if anyone is interested in giving it a go.
It's listed as TGCWbeta2
Mostly done with the course, just a small list to complete in the next few days and then hopefully publishing by Monday. If anyone cares to add to this list, feel free. Even though I may not act on all suggestions, I'm definitely open to hearing them and will consider using them if they make sense to me. More eyes on the course always helps.
To Do List
Check that all pins are legal (15' distance from edge and 9 box rule)
Check entire course for floating plants/trees. Plant rocks along entire outside edge of property, especially where it is visible on a hole lower 3/4 of all small pines on edge. Only first wall was completed. hole 3 - greenside bunker is boring and not consistent with rest of course, needs to be reworked/rethought hole 4 - finish rock planting left of pond hole 5 - level front left bunker hole 6 - smooth out high bunker wall on left of left bunker hole 6 - finish rock planting left of fairway hole 7 - middle pins need break hole 7 - finish rock planting front left of tee and behind green hole 8 - finish rock planting left of fairway Hole 9 - work on fairway bunker close to green hole 10 - pin 3 (front) needs a little more space past the pin. too much slope hole 12 - give green some love hole 13 - give green some love hole 14 - give green some love hole 14 - give left greenside bunker some love hole 15 - flatten greenside bunker a little hole 15 and 17 - finish rock planting between greens hole 17 - give green some love hole 18 - contour rough around all fairway bunkers

Hey bud, here's a playthrough. Good luck in the comp! This was awesome! And really appreciated! So much fun and really helpful seeing how other people look at the course. Not going to lie, I was cracking up a little when you went in the bunker on 9 after telling me the bunkers didn't come into play. Funny stuff. In an effort to not clog up this thread with a novel, I'm responding with a private message. Thanks again!

Based on some good advice I got from mattf27 in his stream earlier, here's the before and after on the 4th hole Different tee location and water that isn't just there, but actually plays a part in the hole. I still need to tidy up the hole a bit, but it's starting to feel much better. The new angle makes the run off in the back and the collection area in the front much more realistic places for people to end up as well.

Launching within the next day or two I hope. Final Beta has been launched as TGCWbeta4 if anyone wants to give it a try and let me know if any plants are floating. Think I got them all, but noticed one more right before I published this beta.
Best to play it default weather/wind/time of day/green speed etc.
Tees/Pins (Only affects the par 3s)
Green/1 Black/2 Blue/3 White/4

Looks great. Over head looks really clean and big fan of how you’ve used the road as perimeter. Good work
Got some catching up to do with designing and playing as been moving house for last couple weeks but gonna try catch some downtime and load the beta up if the final version isn’t published by then

Plot looks great. Won't be able to play your last beta because I'm away, but look forward to playing the final publish
