Any tips for placing stand alone crowds. The brushes always make them look kind of squished together

What I tend to do is play the hole to take a look at the crowds. In my current design (my first), I had crowds standing in walls, trees, etc. I had to keep winnowing the crowds until they were no longer doing that.

Also, I designed these beautiful gallery boxes only to realize, to my horror, that the crowds would manifest on them. Uggh, I wish HB would give us better control over things like that.
