Happy New Year everyone and welcome to Kinetic all you that have gotten a promotion this week. You have joined Kinetic at a good time as we ease off on the difficulty for a couple of week, not there wont be hard days just not as many. The first course of the new year is Old Bosworth Field by ErixonStone . Also known as Patrick Lawless, the younger less famous brother of Blackie Lawless but not every family member can be a rock star(although the lyrics for I wanna be somebody were inspired by Patricks reaction when he was told only one rock star per family). Some of you may know Patrick as the organizer of the rookie design contest, so if you have a course in that contest, this might be a great chance to lick up to him by saying all sorts of nice things about his course. Normally this is where I do a 100 percent true write up about the course or the designer, but Patrick himself has done a right up, so we not just rehash that and save myself some time.
In the year 1485, Henry Tudor and his English, French and Breton army defeated and killed King Richard III at Bosworth Field in central England, winning the War of the Roses. King Henry VII would reign until 1509, and the House Tudor would rule the empire until 1603. Across the canal from that site lies Old Bosworth Field.
Wait, thats it, nothing about how King Richard died right on where the 18th green is now and it is rumored that his ghost can be seen wandering around the entire course where he offers people a kingdom for a horse. Or that he was killed by someone from Wales and now all Welshmen are to this day banned from playing golf at Old Bosworth. Imagine being King of England and being killed by a Welshman, that has got to be the ultimate embarrassment. Lets see what other true facts about the course that could have been added. The farmer that owned the field was also known as Old Bosworth , a cranky old man that hated teenagers and used to chase trespassers off his land with a stick. The day of the battle, he thought teenagers were up to no good again and ran out to the field to chase them off, only to be crushed to death from a unexpected charge by Henry Tudors mounted troops, much to the delight of the teenagers who were hiding in the trees near by. Or that William Shakespeare himself played a round of golf at the course and was inspired the right his famous play Richard and his nephews, a comedy about inheritance, after this was badly received he changed to a history play and renamed it Richard the Third.
So a course with major historical significance, not only does the Kinetic bring you sport, but we bring you a education as well, your welcome, Good luck all and have fun.
