I did say I wasn't going to update for a while, but here's one more. Previously there were some photos of hole 9, uphill par 3. I mentioned there were some greens over the back that would be visible when scout cam is engaged, here's that pic again of the very raw area: Well I've built the holes behind and done most of the planting. This is what the same view looks like now, in an almost complete state. The three greens you can see behind are 3 (right), 17 (centre) and 4 (left).

Close to completion now, but still plenty of time for tinkering and checking and touching up. This is by far the smallest course / plot that I've ever used - it's almost small enough to meet the small plot size judging criteria even though I never had an intention to use that one. It also has no off-course stuff at all, which is a first for me since my first course. The course is on its own little peninsula and there are no views off the course except for out to the open ocean. I've used no grass, I'm at 41% memory and 33% objects.
Previously I mentioned that the clubhouse will have to be good because it's quite prominent - that turned out not to be true as the lighting put the clubhouse in the deep shade from most perspectives on the course. So I've changed my mind and have gone for a pretty low-key and low visual impact clubhouse.
So it's quite a minimalistic course I suppose, I've tried to pack a lot into a small package.
I've playtested this a little in different lighting conditions and I'm going to spend a bit of time planting under different lighting conditions, to get the course looking decent at different times of day. It looks ok in different conditions already.
I do hope I've got the strategy / difficulty correct for CC level, I'm never quite sure of that. I've got the greens quite quick at 165 and there's some movement on the greens but I think they play well and fairly. I've yet to do a final sculpt and pin placement for about half of the holes.
This is the 15th green, looking back towards the tee and 14th fairway behind:

This will definately be my last update before publishing. I've got probably 99% of the planting done. A couple pins to place, teeboxes to flatten, and a few touch-ups here and there. Submission window opens next week, but it will probably be a couple weeks before I publish because I'll be out of town.

How good is Barnbougle, Dunes and Lost Farm!
The bunkering is incredible and the greens would not get approved in TGC due to all the red.

How was the trip? I haven't managed to play there but am trying to organise a few friends to go down in spring.

You won't regret it! The rooms on course are very nice as well. We stayed at Lost Farm Lodge in an ocean facing room. The restaurant is spectacular and a good sports bar over 18a green!

Published! This course is called Cormac's Bluff, I just published it on PS4. I'll make a completed courses thread tomorrow. (Here it is: tgctours.proboards.com/thread/33310/cormacs-bluff-cc-comp-entry) And I'll probably add one more post here with a few final thoughts. But it's late now and I'm off to bed.
I'm quite pleased with how this has turned out. Here's a final plot / routing pic:

Wow, interesting routing, can’t wait! Yup the routing is a little unusual for sure. I was reading a thread on the golf course atlas site where Tom Doak sounded like he really wanted to throw a crossover into his routing at a couple courses he's designed including Barnbougle, but the idea was always knocked back by management. So I though, if it's good enough for Doak then it's good enough for me. So I went with one crossover (4th and 18th). Then as I was completing the routing there was just a natural spot that worked better with another corssover rather than trying to avoid it, so I leaned into it and introduced another one (7th and 10th). Then there's the manipulated tee set, which truth be told doesn't actually make a whole lot of sense from a golfer's point of view (for example finishing a hole, walk across a different fairway to get to the teebox, to just hit back over that same fairway). But it's good enough for video game golf I think. So add it all together on a small plot and it's fairly chaotic looking. I'd love to see a shot that included all the fairway splines that I've used - there must be hundreds of them! Fairways are mostly interconnecting but were constructed in hundreds of little sections.
