I switched to PS5 shortly after getting promoted. I found the PS4 much simpler to get straight swing lines. Maybe I had a marginal controller? But I am struggling with PS5. I am just curious if anyone else has made the switch recently. I would be curious to see my API data from before week 2 compared to after. How many top players are on PS4? Is this an advantage? I just don’t know.

I just don’t know. I have had my PS5 for a while now, but back in 2K21 when I switched I found the DualSense controller harder to get straight swing lines on than I did with a DS4. I owned multiple DS4's over the years and other than one of them I found them all easier to nail swing plane on than the DualSense. Also to note is that I am still using the original DualSense and is 2 years old now. If you ask nicely, Admin might help you see some API data from an event a few weeks back and from the most recent week.

I was a former plat player in 2k21 on ps4, and I qualified in Kinetic this game. I've only just done my first event, but I find swing plane much more difficult in 2k23. I've only played 2 rounds on ps5 for 2k23 on a friends console, and I found it to be really easy for both plane and tempo. I think I shot -11 and -14 just messing around half hammered.

This is probably going to be personal preference, but for me? PS5 wins without a question.
You can in theory be way better on PS4 with a wired PS4 controller. Not only is it straighter, your tempo lands on a way smaller number of point. Its all or nothing, but this would win if you're prepared to put up with the slower frame rates and mediocre performance.
PS5 and a PS5 controller, allows you to be more precise. It's harder for sure, but if you master this, it is way more rewarding, you'll get a better feel for when things are off, and you'll all round enjoy the experience far better. It does a better job wired and wireless quite significantly. You'll still notice wired will poll to certain positions on the tempo, but the points are much closer, allowing you to hit everywhere instead of perfect or duff.

I notice a lot more detail in the swing line where I think pS4 just shows a line in average.

I was in Elite last season, now in kinetic trying to get back there. Still on PS4 at the moment, I'd like to move to ps5 but with my mortgage going up hundreds of dollars a month over the last while I can't really afford to right now. I tend to use my money to fund my real life golf.

I've had my PS5 for a while so im used to the controller. I just suck at this game lol.
If you are playing the PS4 version of the game on a PS5, you can use the PS4 controller with it on the 5.
It's that way for all of the PS4 games that I have on the 5.
My preorder came with both versions but I had only used the 5 version. Recently I DL'd the 4 version to see if my golfer's progress, fittings, etc were the same. They were not. If I wanted to go that route I'd have to begin the grind all over again which I'm not willing to do.

It shouldn't be the entire grind, just the cost to put the fittings back on (and you have to change the clothes/club appearances too, but they should be there). That's no minor cost, since it's what... ~6k to fit a full set with 3x orange fittings per club? But it's not completely reset progress. I wish things transferred properly, because when my swing was really really bad a few times already this season, I had been tempted to try that version since I could use the DS4, but it wasn't going to be worth the bother/cost.
