Week 4 on the Platinum Tour takes us to the rjwils30 beauty, Avery Fields Golf Club. Hitting fairways to open up the best angle into the green is the key to this week's event as these greens can be quite punishing if you're putting from the wrong side of a slope. You may even find one or two routes to play a bit of cross country golf while you're at it!

Sorry dude but r3 n r4 are brutal. Course is tricky enough as is without tricking it up. Great course. Shocking setups tho. Id lost the will to live with last two. Knock it to 5ft and you end if nearly off the front with a 73 ft putt. Not cool! Slow greens in rd 4 too ball makes there no way to play the run it just stops on orange hills. Crazy setup tbh. Hey ho hopefully next week is better I started like a train. R1 R2 i made a stupid double on par 3 as no way to keep putt on the green at all. R3. Joke setup silly speed greens R4 the polar opposite. Good luck all left to play!!!

Agree, the course is enough of a challenge without combining max winds and max green speeds. This is basically what I was worried would happen when they picked Master swing over Legend. First Hackamore where you have about a 4 square box to land a shot to get on the same level, then these conditions.
If they're concerned with the low scores, use legend swing, if not just set up the Platinum events a little more like the Elite and Kinetic and save this type of setup for the majors

Hello.
I essentially posted the following in the Discord Plat channel, but I think it fits in here as well.
So, I just finished my first tournament up here (-13, -4, -7, -9 = -33), and for me, there is almost no difference with respect to last season. The only thing that has changed is that I'm not the only one having tempo issues anymore. ð
Jokes aside though, I'm very happy with the fact that the default ball has such a ridiculous roll. I think that is just what Plat needed. Even in its current state, the game is still pretty much like throwing darts, but at least there is some element of strategy in the sense that, for example, 1) you can use slopes to your advantage now and 2) you want to avoid downhill chips.
As I have written often enough, I don't enjoy these super hard conditions that much, simply because I play the game for relaxation. That's one of the reasons why Happy Tee Friends uses the Challenge Circuit btw. I also have often complained that the course setups were too one-sided (always vf vf vf) last year. In my opinion, the goal in Plat should be to determine the best all-around golfer, and not the one coping with vf vf vf the best. Hopefully, with the current game being a little harder (for most), a wider variety of setups will be chosen. This week has been a good start with that 186 R3 and 134 R4.
Some people are exceptionally good in low winds. Some are exceptionally good with slow greens. Some in combining high crosswinds and sidehill lies. I think all these player types should be taken into account when setting up a course every now and then.
Cheers and good luck all!
