Hi everyone,
I recently started designing courses for PGA2k23. I've completed 2 so far. I'm kind of addicted to it and started my 3rd the other day. I'll hopefully have it completed in the next couple of weeks.
Long story short (Or as short as possible) I've also been following a flickr account for years that has photos from between 500-600 courses. If I'm going to play somewhere in real life, I check to see if he has photos so that I can kind of prep myself for my round and get an idea of what the courses look like.
There are a lot of really well known courses and some not so well known courses in his collection. Now, when I say there are photos, I mean there are A LOT of photos. He usually takes a photo from every tee box, every fairway, every approach, and most greens. I've been using these photos to get the details right on the courses I'm designing.
I reached out to him and explained what we all do here, and how a lot of us like to create real courses. I didn't want to share his galleries without his permission and I figured it wouldn't hurt if we all had a resource to use to get the details right on certain courses. I tried designing from memory and google maps, but for certain things I needed more information. Like where's that little hump in the fairway? Or what kind of tree is next to a green? Or what does the view look like on an approach shot?
Besides the nice conversation he and I had via email, he agreed to let me share the link to his galleries and this is what he said about his photos...
"You may share links to my photos so long as you let all recipients know that any virtual designs that used any of my photos may not be used for commercial purposes, and that I reserve all rights to any commercial use that may result form such designs."
"You may share links to my photos so long as you let all recipients know that any virtual designs that used any of my photos may not be used for commercial purposes, and that I reserve all rights to any commercial use that may result form such designs."
Anyway, here's the link to all his course photos. Make good use of them, use them for reference, and don't abuse his generosity. I think this is a great resource to for anyone designing real courses and I don't want this resource to get taken away.
I hope this really helps everyone... I know it's helped me tremendously.
PS - Under the photo, it usually says what hole it is and what type of shot it is... tee, fairway, approach, etc
