Hi Scotty, I just played with back tees and pins 1.
The transition shot on the first tee have me a pretty terrible view: some heavy rough and some cart paths. But I think that's where the back 9 is / will be.
1st: looks good off the tee. Maybe the bunkers / waste area on the right could be sculpted a little, it's pretty flat. I can see there's some grass in between the tree / bush sections but due to draw distance you can't actually see that grass off the tee or with scout cam - maybe switch that out for some more buried trees? Maybe also consider building some trees in that grass at the back, or some of the large brown grass that can be seen at a distance. I also wouldn't mind a little more movement on the green personally.
Otherwise nice opener - fairly straight forward par 5 which is a decent way to open a round I think
2 - good hole. Are you going to decorate the far riverbank over the green and disguise the plot boundary?
3 - solid hole
4 - yup nothing wrong with this hole.
5 - I've noticed that all your greens are very flat. I'm not sure if you have plans to add contours later but if not I'd recommend it. This one in particular - the entire green and surrounds are pancake flat, and it's a very big green too. I get that it's a lowlands course but it still need some ground movement. Apart from the green this hole works well.
6 - hole works well, asks questions on both shots. The green complex and fairway approach to the green needs work - it is quite clearly one very flat surface raised up 6 feet or so from another very flat surface. Some more natural land movement which ties the greensite to the natural environment is needed here.
7 - Split fairways are hard to execute well. In this case - what benefit is there from the section on the right? It's narrower than the left side, it runs out at driver distance so you can't hit a full driver, and it offers a worse angle into the green. There's no reason for it to be there. I think this hole need a rethink.
8 - good hole. Sand in the bunkers up by the green could be sculpted a bit more / better.
9. Can see what you're going for here but needs a little work - for me there's no reason to hit driver up the right, yeah you're a little closer to the hole, but knocking a 3 wood down anywhere on the very wide fairway gives a full wedge in. I'd try to think about providing some advantage for going with the riskier driver option, or alternatively make approach more challenging if you take the 3 wood option.
All in all there's some good holes, lots of the course looks good (and I know there's lots to come there as most of the plot is bare). Just would like to see more land movement especially on the greens.
