Well, think I can go ahead and celebrate my first tour win since the 2016 HB Studios Open on the old European Tour before this event closes tomorrow!
Full disclosure, I have a new controller, and I'm not the only one. Razer Wolverine v2, fully compliant with the API (I had my rounds specifically checked last week), and what it gives us on Xbox is more polling points. At last! Ever since TGC2019 we have been a bit hamstrung on Xbox as has been widely talked about. With the stock controller in this game it's either perfect, or it's 10/2 grey fast/slow, or it's the dreaded round killing black fast/slow. I've now got 4 points in between where those old grey misses were and a consistency where I know that if I can make a repeatable good swing I will get a good result. It basically sounds like how the PS controller behaves, swing line is a lot harder but the tempo and polling points are much better. We're already seeing Xbox players at the top end of all the leaderboards, as more cotton on I think we're going to see a lot of those old Pro Tour players returning to their rightful level. Xbox is back! Which can only be a good thing for the Tours as a whole.
This week was a perfect storm for me. Obviously the improved tempo was the main factor but I also had a good slice of luck here and there, plus I think in 7 years playing these tours that's the best I've ever putted. I was seeing that hole like a bucket! 10 feet, 20 feet, 30 feet (including one for par), even 40 feet, they just kept going in. I was shaking my head in disbelief in that final round and just enjoying the ride! It was crazy. I don't expect that to happen every week.
My goal now is to keep riding this wave and get myself back to Kinetic over the next few weeks. We'll see. I've always loved these Tours, it's the most amazing gaming experience. Rising through the levels and playing the top tour through TGC1 and 2 was so much fun but I'm not going to lie, it's been a bit of a grind since then. A fun grind but a grind nonetheless. This one is for perseverance.
