Hey All,
I went to Bandon this past Febraury with a group of 16 guys, most of whom are used to playing on flat, well manicured parkland courses in mild weather where they can drive carts around and spend 2 minutes lining up putts for betting games. Most of the guys were not golf architecture nuts like myself and tended to focus mostly on their games and so when the weather went sideways and they started blowing up there were a lot of unhappy campers out there. By the last day many guys opted out of playing the last round at Sheep because they were too beat up (despite the fact most had caddies carry their bags for most rounds). There were a few other guys on the trip including myself who were the die hards; Carried our bags for all 8 rounds and toughed it out in the wind and rain without b%&ing about it. In the end, many in the group were talking of going to Scottsdale next trip so they can hang by the pool, golf some banal resort courses and go to the notorious Waste Management Open, all of which I will have no part of.
As you can tell from my enthusiam for Scottsdale I opted not to go on the trip and instead I booked another trip to Bandon for 12 guys in Feb 2024. 4 nights at Chrome Lake, 7x18 holes rounds, plus a round at the Preserve. All double header golf days. I've been floating the trip around to a few other guys but my experience last time with a bunch of softies has made me wonder if the trip would be better enjoyed with guys who actually care about the golf courses and golf architecture.
That said, as a group this forum is filled with guys who study and create golf courses so i figured I would extend the invitation too see if we could get a contingent of TGC guys on the trip.
Respond here or message me if you have any interest, I can send you further details about exact dates and cost.
Cheers,
Rob
Also note the year…2024. You need to book about 1.5 years out.
