Also, with no marker, you're playing blind in regards to your aim intent (distance wise) and the ability to dial a good tempo on partial shots. This is so important in this game for short shots (and putts), and seems to be a thing that SO many people don't understand how to manipulate to your advantage. With it off entirely, it's even more like guess work.
It'd probably bring scores down, a touch, but I'm not sure it'd be worth the frustration.

You can move the marker with no marker as it is just invisible. Tbh the game plays absolutely fine with auto intent for me I rarely slow the backswing down. The biggest difference is if you use vibration and practise swing aids. But if you're a feel player it's an awesome way to play the game. The solitary issue is the camera for severe downhill putts with reverse putting cam. But there is an alternative way to see the putt. I do agree it will be a big change here for some but most of the sim societies play no marker. Partials auto intent plays the same for me as 2K21, it is just a matter of hitting a slower tempo for that slower backswing. All said I am not saying TST should go no marker.

Re marker off - Fully understand marker can be moved, but invisible. Personally, I don't want to have to fight an invisible intent marker and then remember to have to reset it. Fully understand it might feel ok to you re auto intent, but i think the short game, specifically bunkers, feel horrendous without moving the marker - in fact, I found it almost impossible to consistently escape without moving the marker up past the hole.I actually never slow the backswing down (apart from some DH putts), I actually speed it up, as it allows a closer matching speed/tempo for me to get near perfect downswings on short game. Vibration - nope. Practice swing - Yes, I use these to dial in broadly where I need to land my ball, vs my 100% carry distance per club. Marker on, or marker off - no difference to me. I work out my partial % from my total carry. Are we talking about turning practice swings off too? Severe putts - I use this method of drawing back the marker (invisible or not) in any iteration where necessary (I play with approach and putt cams in TST and normal tours). Re partial auto intent - I think it's more severe this time around, though I've been away for a while... regardless, I always moved my marker out past the hole on 2K21 (as it suits my swing tempo better). I could still play ok with marker off, it would just be a PITA. I might be in the minority, but I think a fair few others might well feel the same.

I don't think you are in the minority Fadge, it would be pitchforks like when TST went no marker.Apperently it is impossible to read the green with no elivation info.and without green sweeping. Only the hardcore sim guys would love it here. Tbh marker doesn't really help me much as I don't really move it and I play with no shot feedback anyway. To me practice swings are a PITA but each to their own. All said I think TST will be a very good this year if they don't use Pro swing difficulty. There is a great challenge with the short game and no grids greens are much more challenging when they are faster and have bigger breaks. I actually don't mind others playing marker only for TST, it is just annoying I can't turn it off myself like TGC 2019 when no marker is set. It is a real eyesore also.
