I say just embrace it and let's see how it goes. I think it's 50/50 whether they patch a lock on the balls or not. That would obviously be ideal. But how is it unfair if everyone has exactly the same option? I think it will take away from designers/schedulers of ever giving us firm/fast greens. You could literally go a full season here at TGCTours and never see a single green speed higher than 160. I agree, I'm not saying I like it! But at least we all have the same options. I haven't used anything but the default ball so far.

In my best Yoda voice: Either lock balls types or do not. There is no honor system. And that’s the crux of the matter. Right now the game does not give an option to lock the balls. I just can’t see how ( unless the api works on the balls but I doubt it ) you can have a fair tournament with integrity intact playing society at all. I guess time will tell. Save your VC and just buy the balls? there not that expensive? play a few online skins games and you will have loads of VC.

Anyone else think the driving range is broke on Xbox, you can get perfect tempo very easily without much effort but when you play the game it's a different thing, so you could be practising your timing in the driving range and it will be wrong?

I’m finding it the same as it’s always been I’ve always hit the ball well on the range in the last game and I still do in this game it’s not changed.

My point was I hit 7 perfect shots in the driving range, and I can't ever hit perfect pitch/chip in game. Same think happens when I practice legend drives in the range I can hit perfect nearly every time but struggle in game. To me this is giving you a false reading of how good your tempo timing really is.

On 2K21 I could go on the range and the best I ever did was hit 15 perfect drives one after the other, went straight to the course and not one perfect in the next two rounds. Driving range has always given different results to the course. I setup some tests and hit 200 drives on the range and recorded the results from memory now I maxed out at 28% perfect, and around about the same percentage of either grey slows or grey fasts. I could never replicate those figures on the course with the driver. This game my driving on the course is pretty good I just can’t hit a decent iron to save my life, I would hazard a guess and say 95% are grey slows.

Sounds like real golf to me. I can go to the driving range and hit 40 out of 50 iron shots straight at whatever the target is then go out on the course and miss 15 greens.

I guess except the driving range is like a training tool? you use it to practice your swing/tempo it's a bit sad when you practice to get your tempo and find out you have been wasting your time.

I wouldn't know, I don't use it anyway. I don't have too much trouble with tempo in game.

No no we love the game best game so far, it's a friend on PS5 who struggling, he can hit fine in the range but cant do the same in game, may just be a PS5 problem, I must say though hitting in the driving range doesn't feel the same as in game especially for chip shots.
