Hey guys I design on ps4 and was gonna do a RCR of my home course either in this game or the new one. If anyone could give me some advice on… 1. How would I start off? 2. Be able to get the routing spot on? 3. How to make it look pretty realistic 4. If there’s any apps that could help in recreating my course. Any advice would be much appreciated as I’ve wanted to do this for a long time but just don’t know where to start. Thanks Brendan(brenditoor123)

If you are on PS4 then you wont be able to import any Lidar data, so the best starting point in my opinion is Google Earth. Google Earth has measuring tools, so you can measure hole lengths, fairway widths, green sizes, bunker locations, etc. It also shows elevation relative to sea level, so you can get a general guide for elevation changes on each hole if you zoom in and move your mouse over each hole in Google Earth. From there its a matter of reproducing all that in the course designer. To get a feel for the planting you may need to walk your course and take some photos if possible. Most guys in these forums will tell you that playing home courses on this game is pretty boring, as the courses are generally not very challenging, but it is fun to recreate your own home course imo.

I would recommend Google Earth to measure the holes out and help get the angles right. I started with the routing by measuring the distance from one holes green to the next holes tee, then triangulate it with an adjacent hole. I would then draw a straight line from the back tee to the furthest point of the hole, which can be used as a spine for the rest of your measurements. Then it's just a case of measuring your green and fairway out, it can be time consuming but does help get it more accurate.

That's a shame don't think there is any Lidar for Ireland and that course.
Great advice above most important is to get the layout correct used to take me 2-3 weeks on console just to get the layout close, always best to keep to one measure spot so it's the same all round the course, it's the angles which take all the time to get the position of bunkers etc correct.
