Yeh definitely wait and see what the planting in 2k23 is like, I’ve got a load of RCRs I’m holding back on planting till then, just tidied up the tees greens and bunkering till then.
Depending on how burying trees for bare patches work in 2k21, you could fill in some of the space with waste areas and wild sandy areas and then just semi submerge some trees with just the tops showing and then surround them with lone grass and plants to create some visuals that fill up the area.
If it’s an open and wild course sometimes you don’t need to over plant as the contours and green complexes are the focus, just use wooded areas on the far perimeters.
Really like what I’m seeing so far though, the bunker sculpting is excellent and the green complexes are really interesting.
If you decide to go planting mad, have a look at Lost Preserve for an example, the use of those desert grasses sporadically gives that long range rendering and then adding normal long grass around that looks great up close.
I used a similar method for my fescue on the country club just search “TCC, Brookline (US Open)” it’s a method that works great on long range views and rendering.
Do you design on PC or Console?
yeah i agree, a lot of these course irl don't particularly have mass plant areas but on the game it's not as easy to have blank space look great. Not sure whether the textures help either.
i'm about to have a sit down and watch through LP and Elstead Heath videos for some inspo and will certainly have a round on them both. Think i already played your TCC but will certainly have another outing.
i'm a ps4 designer pal. In process of buying a house and maybe looking to go PC when that happens. What about yourself? PC i assume?
Yeh switched from PS to PC for designing, was going to say that there’s a great spam planting method using a script on PC but no good to you on PS currently!
