I've noticed if I create a course its name is limited to 25 characters. However I've seen at least two courses which exceed this limit some how, one at 40 and another at 43 characters.
How was this done? Imported from 2019? A patched out exploit?
I know, I'm asking the big questions here.

I think the longer course names may come from PC designers? I have seen the same, but know that on PS4, there's no way around the limit. I just assumed is was another one of those things that could only work on PC, like the free-roam camera and such.

Only way i have found a way on PC to use a longer name is to use Chad's Golf Programme from TGC2019.In TGC1 you could use very long names so some of them names you see may have come from tgc1.Been asking since TGC2 for a longer names to come back but like a lot of things like the soft fairways display bug not been changed for 3 games now.

Not Sure if you played the 2023 Version or the old version but yes always nice to get the 2023 open venue done in advance. More work needed on the outskirts for the next version of the game, Little bit of a shame for computer golf the greens are so flat at Hoylake (royal liverpool)
Thanks for the kind words on the course, Only can wish HB change the amount of characters used, there might be a Script also on PC to change names. Not sure if you have all 4 versions but you could create a blank plot in tgc1 with a long name an just import it through the games if your on console.

It was the '2023 Open' version, it came up on Trending.
As for the name, annoying, but I'm not going to put too much more energy into it. I'll have a play with the files extracted from tgc_gui and see if it can be done (PC), but if not, so be it.

Ok I figured out a way that isn't to onerous:
Open the course in tgc_gui_0.3.x In the folder the course is unpacked find the course_metadata.json and course_description.json files. Close tgc_gui.x.x.x.exe
Open the *.json files in whatever text editor (notepad++ etc), Find your course name, rename, save repeat for the other file. Open the course up again in tgc_gui (point at the folder), export the course into a *.course file
Re-reun the python 2k19->2k21 import script etc etc... and you're done. I haven't published my test one yet but so far its in 'unpublished courses' showing the full title I've put into the json files. There's other stuff in the json file which is tempting to mess around with but I don't think it'd carry over to anything that gets published. Also I haven't tried establishing how far you can go with the name length. I just wanted the 'full course name' 'location' and 'Lidar' which it seems to have added happily.

All too complicated for me to do i struggle even using chad's golf programme. I did read on another forum that someone had modded the pga season on PC with the correct names and courses and some of the players, Just wish that was possible in the main game. Glad you sorted your name problem out.
