Just published an 11 hole beta. If anyone can play and give feedback it would be appreciated. Still have more to do on those 11 holes, more planting etc, just curious if the playability is there and if it's a bit too over the top in terms of using the sea as a hazard for tour use. Also any extra ideas for extra planting or other objects would be nice. Thanks.

Gave it a quick playthrough and it would certainly be penal in a decent wind. Would it approved as tour worthy, it may be considered too fantasy for the judges. Obviously the auto-gen grasses near the fairways will be cleaned up. It plays OK, but struggling to create too much elevation changes given it's at sea level. It would be cool if the plot spelt something out when you zoomed out. Anyway, here's my playthrough to give you a fresh perspective.

Playability-wise it goes pretty well, holes are well sculpted, greens and bunkers look good. There's a bit to clean up and add to with regards to planting, but what's there is decent apart from some of the patchy grasses which look either auto-gen or placed without too much care.
There wasn't a huge amount to think about off the tee - hit it into the wide fairways which didn't have many bunker's or other hazards except the water - there are some exceptions, hole 9 for example is a decent shape. I didn't run into too much trouble as the fairways are fairly wide, but if you miss the fairway you're dead - there's little middle ground between being on the fairway and being in the water - I think penalizing close misses or misjudgements a little bit and penalizing bad misses a lot makes a more interesting round of golf, but getting that balance right is tough.
I'm not a fan of the strict island theme personally - just doesn't look like a golf course and reduces my immersion. It also makes a lot of the holes look very similar, as they've all got the same aesthetic. It also means elevation changes are hard to accomplish, and stand out as unnatural at times. For example, have a look at the approach shot on the 3rd - you've got a large landform right behind the green (4th teebox) - which detracts from the look of the hole. In a course set on land that teebox would be a part of a natural looking landform and could blend into the natural environment.
Hole 6 gave me off the tee a 3 wood directed straight into the water in front of the green.
I'd imagine it's too much of a fantasy course to be used on tour, but that's not for me to judge.
The actual playing areas were well done but the style of course is not my cup of tee personally.

Thanks to both of you for your feedback, it's much appreciated. Definitely got some work to do on those holes I've got done so far. I'm thinking I'll add some more land and add heavy rough in areas near the safe side of the fairways, leaving the riskier side to have the water in play more. That way it wont be completely penal. Will add some more areas of land, just to make it look a little less fantasy and to make things like the 4th tee box look more natural. As well as adding background objects eventually to make it look more realistic. Thanks again
