Had an absolute mare with the putter in Round 3, rallied in Round 4 but the damage was done. Finished on -14 and trudged off knowing it could have been so much better.
We go again!!

Another -4 second round. Struggling to read the greens at times. Still enjoying playing this one though, it's one of my favourite courses and a bucket list item as well.
On a more positive note I finished getting fitted for irons and will have brand new T100s in the bag for the weekend...my real bag is beginning to look a lot like my pixel golf bag, only difference is the wedges and there's no Scotty Cameron putters in this game π

New swing isnβt too bad; now for a new putter!!! Round 3: -10 Round 4: -7 Total: -36 Tinkering in The Open? The oddsmakers are taking that into account! I'd be too scared to tinker at St. And. What putter are you using? I use the Mizuno silver or blue typical putters with no back - not that it matters but for me, those big back putters I have trouble with in the game. The course looks great - It's awesome to have a crowd - these majors need a crowd to bring that special atmosphere. I just hope I don't get any 120 foot putts when I get underway later today. And what's up with Platinum? They didn't want St. And? This is why all season I was begging for real courses - this course is THE course of golf - I'm so glad you came through with this golden oldie. And great job by our star course architect (and Old Tom).

Struggling to find time to get my rounds in π. Had an unbelievable chip in out of the light rough for birdie on hole six, even Lee Trevino would be proud of π. Had to land the ball on top of a mound, which then the ball broke sharp left to right down the slope.Guessed just the right amount of back spin and how far left of the flag before hitting the shot. Back nine went OB on holes ten and thirteen ππ. Enjoyable adventure and definitely not a boring round ππ.

Another event, another battle to avoid the demotion to Hogan. Still 4 demos, been on the trigger for 5 and a half weeks now and no end in sight until I slip up...
Just a little ahead of the curve through 2, -10, -5 = -15 while plenty of folks are 1 behind. So many ridiculously bad bounces in round 2, in most part thanks to own greediness instead of taking it a little safer. Did get lucky on hole 4 of that round though, very slow drive must have hit a spot between 2 OB areas on the right, the golfer circle indicating my position on the yardage book was definitely on top of one area and another was right behind.
Think it all comes down to this next round, what with those big winds incoming... is this THE week where I get put out of my misery and I can finally find peace a step below? Stay tuned...
Cheers, and good luck!

It's great to be wandering the fairways of The Old Course this week. Or, to be more accurate, wandering the tussocks, bunkers and grassy mine shafts that I encountered along the way. I'm trying to shift the demo mark I picked up in Hogan last week, so I felt my -6 in R1 was a promising start. -5 in R2 felt like I was slipping back a bit, and I followed that up with another -5 in R3, albeit in tougher conditions. And then somehow I managed to run round in -9 for the final round, so that put me in the clubhouse with -25. If that isn't good enough to clear my demo mark then I don't deserve to be in Hogan anyway and will welcome my inevitable descent to Snead.
Very enjoyable, although I completely acknowledge I had more than my fair share of luck. Twice when I played #16 my drive slipped right and out of bounds, only to hit the cart path and rocket back onto the fairway again. I could aim to do that 100 times and never reproduce it.
Good luck to all who are still out on the course, and I'll see you at the 19th hole. SlΓ inte mhath!

Got my swing back luckily for this week - no water, no OB yet thankfully. 64-63 (-17) good for 36th for now. I have played this course more than any other since it was in every TW game so I should keep us this pace. First round I missed the fairway on the road hole so I was 223 yds away in heavy rough and managed par then birdied it the second round - I always have trouble with the hole since it's the toughest but so far so good.

A little better in round 3 getting to -5 with only one bogey. Sunk a long birdie putt on 10 or 11, whichever it was. Just played 3 holes in the final round so far at even, will finish off tomorrow as tonight when I get home I'll be watching the real one for a while.
I did have a couple of random crazy tempo glitches as well during that session, one on 18 in the third and one on 2 or 3 in the last. They didn't cause any issues given how open the old course is but the first one perhaps robbed me of a chance to drive the green, probably wouldn't have made any difference to the score however. I birdied it anyway.

Round three only bogey came on hole four, second hardest hole on the course. Found the fairway more times this round and no OB's in these high winds π. Had Trowelhead as a ghost player.Trowelhead played a Happy Gilmore shot with his second shot on the par three. The camera tower was in his line of sight to the golf hole. The golf ball flew between the camera tower legs, the ball then landed on the green and then the ball rolled into the hole for birdie ππππ. Hope everyone are enjoying playing this golf course as much as me ππ.

Missed out on alot of birdies on the opening holes in the final round π. First birdie came with a chip shot from just off the green π. Got a birdie putt on the last hole on the front nine π. Picked up four more birdies on the back nine for my lowest score of minus twenty after 72 holes π. To be promoted into Hogan League the same week as The Open is very nice indeed. π. I don't think i will be advancing out of Hogan due to the great players who play this game πππ. Thanks again skoader for setting up these leagues ππ.

Another 68 for the final round to get to -17 for the week. At least I managed an eagle finally, on 14, and finished with a birdie.

Between TGC and the real golf it's been a really enjoyable week. 64-63-66-65 (-30) good for somewhere between 50th and 60th place overall - middle of Palmer. Never went into the burn on 1 though I came close twice, never bogeyed the road hole or 11 with that highly cantered green. Capitalized on a lot of easy holes but almost bogeyed both par 5s in the final round. On my final hole I drove it to 37 yards and pitched in on the second bounce for my only eagle - so I'm flying high! Enjoy The Open!

-5, -7 weekend to finish at -27. Very high winds not that comfortable with but felt okay in those.
And with 5 holes left, I'm looking to not make mistakes because I feel like I'm sitting just high enough to survive. Birdied 4 of last 5 to guarantee an escape into another week of Palmer flight action, have to make it hard on myself but I'm just about getting it done every week.
Round/week 7 of this never ending(?) fight coming up next week, who goes down first? The player, or the flight (that would be just surviving until the end of season)? Cheers, and good luck!
