Dear TST enthusiasts,
Only two more weeks until the start of THE Open, so it's time to start practicing how to handle humps, bumps and a sea breeze. Therefore, this week, we travel to Ireland: Portmarnock Golf Club on the East coast of Ireland, near Dublin. A brilliant Links course and a chance to practice your bump and run shots, taking irons from the tee and putting on greens exposed to the wind.
Have fund and good luck, Frans

Great course choice again Frans. Proper felt I was in Oirland. Expected gale force winds though!!
Not sure whether I avoided relegation last week but if I did I'm teetering on the edge again this week. Needed the luck of the Oirish and didn't really get it. Everything just missed! -4 at HT. Needs to do better says his TST school report.

Finished up as a busy week ahead. -7 with all rounds under par. Probably the most enjoyable -7 I've had in a long while.

First bogey came on the secound hole, but managed to bounce back straight away on the next hole for birdie, only to bogey the next. So back to one over par after five holes π. Only managed par on the sixth hole(Stroke Index 17) Seventh hole the hardest on the course i birded.(Work that out)π. Even par for the front nine. Birded ten and eleven when the bogeyman and his misses showed up on twelve. So back to even again π. Thirteenth hole birded the par five and got three more birdies on the last three holes to get to -4. I think that deserves a Guiness or two ππ. Great course π and goodluck everyone π.

I remember hitting all 4 of my drives to the right and scaring myself but they all stopped short of the water. The water on the course can be sneaky -watch out for little stream and pond areas. #17 was toughest for me - I bogeyed it 3 out of 4 rounds - that's with the more difficult swing.

Bit of an ordinary 67 to start this week. Kept hitting a series of grey fasts which killed approaches. Meanwhile round 1 of Ashes golf went better, the Aussies getting up by 6 shots

Round two started off with a birdie on the second hole, poor sliced drive off the tee π found water on hole three ,hence a bogey score π. Picked up three birdies on the last remaining holes on the front nine to get to minus three π. Didn't see the bogeyman on the back nine π,and managed to get four more birdies π. Sitting at -11 after two rounds is more than i was expecting π. At the moment the luck of the Irish seems to be riding my golf bag π or it's something in the Guiness drink ππ. Goodluck everyone π.

Birdie on the first in round three.Got three more birdies on the front nine. Just slightly missed read the breaks on some long putts for birdie,so could have been better than minus four for the front nine. Three more birdies on the back nine until a poor drive into the left hand rough on seventeen.Bogeyman got me on seventeen π. Second shot into eighteen, miss judged the headwind and the ball bounced back into the bunker π£. Poor bunker shot gave me too much to do for saving par.So a bogey, bogey finish ππ. Minus five round and minus sixteen after three rounds. I think i will have something abit stronger than Guiness, since i had a couple of poor closing holes. Irish whisky will do the trick.Jameson,Bushmills and Teeling.Cheers ππ.

-8 second round, -13 after two. I seem to play this better during the day than I do at night... maybe I'll start doing that and play my Elite rounds at night where I get the benefit of green grids.

The Palmer Demo Derby, week 4 part 1. Still at 3 demo marks. I have been starting weeks with that many for that long already, how did I escape last week without gaining one more is a mystery to me.
So started off with a 3 putt this week. Great, I'm gone, see ya at Hogan.
Turned it around for -7 in round 1. Edge burners galore in round 2, just a -4. Almost found a way to go for a drink on the first par 5 in round 2, leave it to me to find spots you absolutely should not be anywhere near to.
-11 at the halfway point and... well, here we go again. Might have a couple shots up on the bottom lines. Still refusing to give in and keep fighting as long as I can against the odds, but at the same time I kind of wish that I wasn't in this spot every damn week just to put pressure on the weekend rounds. Ah well, let's see how it goes.
Cheers, good luck.

Very quiet two rounds for me - I had played Portmarnock 5 times this month prior to this week and still couldn't get it going - 68, 68 so far with a lot of missed mid-range putts. Bogey-free in the first round, second round starts I hit the approach 11 inches from the pin and I think 'Okay this second round I'm gonna plow through these holes - birdie 4 of the first 6 then I still don't know what happened but got 3 bogeys in the next 5 holes -made up for them with 3 birdies and an eagle in the final four holes and still only got the 68.
I need a 4-leaf clover.
