Apparently, Take Two had another quarterly meeting yesterday. The PGA 2K23 release was still listed as before the end of "Fiscal 2023", which means the game will come out before end of March 2023...which we already knew from their previous quarterly call. There was a very brief mention of PGA 2K23 in a prepared statement: "2K’s teams at Visual Concepts and HB Studios remain hard at work on their upcoming launches of WWE 2K23 and PGA TOUR 2K23. 2K will have more to share on these annual sports offerings shortly."www.fool.com/earnings/call-transcripts/2022/08/08/take-two-interactive-ttwo-q1-2023-earnings-call-tr/

“Shortly” yea, that doesn’t sound promising. Hopefully they don’t get their two 2K23 projects mixed up and you don’t end up body slamming your caddy off the top rope.

So forgive me but why wouldn't they have a contract written to say that anyone who will be a member at X date (maybe start of season) can be in the game for the full year even if they depart the tour? Isn't that kind of what FIFA does with players at teams. If a player transfers to a different team in the winter, it's not an auto change to move them. You can download new squads if you want but you don't have to.

You can download new squads if you want but you don't have to. I don't know all the legal ramifications of it, but just from a user standpoint, it would be really odd to have PGA 2K23 release soon with Cam Smith's image/likeness in it, only to have him immediately announce his departure to LIV after the FedExCup Playoffs, and then have him in the new 2K PGA Tour game for a long time after. Even now, it's jarring to see Bryson, Sergio, and Ian Poulter in 2K21. Golf is also different from team sports as there's no player's union or association like in FIFA, NBA, NFL, etc. All those players are generally under the same licensing deal. For golf, each individual golfer needs to have a deal...or that's my understanding of it. That just makes things more complicated, as there are multiple licensing deals that need to be signed, instead of just one. My assumption would be that in any new PGA Tour game, they'll simply have some kind of wording in the contracts that say if you leave the PGA Tour, the deal is null and void and then the player would be removed from the game via update/patch. Again, I have no real practical knowledge on how these deals legally work, but I know sports games have removed players in the past due to personal/off-the-field issues, retirements, etc.

Apparently, Tiger Woods and the PGA 2K marketing team (who knew they even had a marketing team??? Hahaha!) are "ramping up" efforts and shooting promotional material now.
Not sure how legit this account is, but...at this point, any news is welcome.

That account is actually pretty good when it comes to updates for TW on and off the course so we can stand to believe that there is some movement for sure.

Who cares, it’s a video game, in/out, contract, pga/liv, whatever. A couple of lines of code and they can be swapped out in a day. How about just deliver a golf game.
Geez, you’d think it was the ACTUAL pga developing the game.

If it comes out in March so be it, I'm happy to play the current game till then. Also 2 years minimum between games, I hate these yearly sports franchise video games that are basically the same game with a few extras and tweaks.

Well, to some, PGA 2K21 has become entirely stale and is not much fun anymore. Also, HB/2K have followed a 2-year release schedule for a while now. 2K21 has been out for almost 2 years. The expectations of a new game coming out soon make sense, as a release in August of 2022 would have followed that schedule. As it is now, we have no real idea of when the game will come out, other than it will release before the end of "Fiscal 2023", which means sometime before the end of March 2023. And that is only true if there are no delays, which tend to happen...just look at EA's game and how it was delayed a whole year. Speaking of which, if PGA 2K23 does come out in March, it will be head-to-head with EA's game, which is thought to release around the same time ("Spring 2023"). Say what you will about EA's methods and games, but it will be a game that appeals to a lot of people, with Augusta, all majors, a focus on career mode, and the fact it's next-gen specific. To me, it would make more sense for 2K to get their game out before EA does, and get out front of the competition.

Well let's hope it arrives in better shape and we are not retail beta testing it for 6 months again. 2k21 release 2 years after TGC2019 and was not finished. There are still bugs not fixed. I might be one of the few but I actually prefer the game now more than ever, but I play the game to certain custom settings and only play 4 society rounds a week. So it feels, realistic challenging and fun still. Hopefully they spend more time beta testing actually before release this time

That's great that you still have fun with the game. But, to me, it's just become too much rinse/repeat with very little challenge, and when you crank up the difficulty, it feels artificially "hard" and frustrating.
Chip-ins happen way, way, way too often on all levels. Bunker play was way too hard before, and now it's way too easy. Splashes from around the green are no-brainers and get you parked up to the cup from any surface. And the off-course stuff offers little in the way of interest - career mode is boring and buggy, there's been no new content added in a long time. It's all the same, and it's been the same for the better part of an entire year.
Thankfully we keep getting new courses, which is the only thing that keeps me even considering playing the game anymore. And even then, I fire it up and wonder why. I took a week off from playing, got 2 rounds in, and now haven't touched the game in a week once again, playing other games that are more interesting to me.
So that's why people here are excited for a new game. 2K21 has run its course (no pun intended), and we're at the point where a new game is essentially expected. And in all honesty, a new game is needed as there is competition coming down the pipeline, too.

Interested to hear what settings you play on that are too easy, and too hard with nothing in between man. I know Hammersman plays on master true sim settings with follow cam disabled and splashing allowed only in bunkers. It's a fantastic way to play and to me it feels a lot more grounded and not artificially difficult on Xbox. Everything else I totally agree though and I'm gasping for a new version. Admittedly like Hammersman says I hope we don't have a twelve month beta period again. Edit: I reworded that a few times and it still sounds a bit cheeky or bitey. Not my intention. Just genuinely curious and like chatting about the game.

Just genuinely curious and like chatting about the game. Totes! I play the same way and to me, it feels great. It's just trying to get the AI in a good way- I only play career now. I think I have found where I am happy with them now to give great, realistic leaderboards that matches my realistic scoring, so it just makes it so much more enjoyable. There are bugs however and annoyances with OP players and no real way to level them off, but still enjoyable when you play it TST style and play house rules - like the splash only in bunkers as an example. Another I was toying with was if you chip, only use like an 7I or 8I and then you pretty much always need to partial. But I'm not sure it feels natural so have stayed with use whatever I want for chips however easy they are. I'm still having fun but I also do crave a new game mainly to sort the stupid bugs, hopefully a more immersive career and a change to other modes as society play is a bore now being just same old same old (TGC TOURS going Pro only doesn't help with this either) and MP is just a waste of space.
