Dear TST enthusiasts, We play a lovely RCR of Harbour Town this week. Bit of a breeze and cloudy the first day. Ever more glorious spring weather after that, which creates its own challenges trying to read greens on a course with LOTS of trees that create some sharp shadows... But the GreensKeeper and I are confident you low-shooting monsters can handle that... Have fun and good luck, Frans

Well all I can say is it's the taking part that counts, right? Not played for a week and yet again I struggled to give my Grid Legends nemesis Art Art Vandelay much to aim at. He simply has to turn up. A triple humph on some par 5 on the back 9 rather soured things when I went for a picnic in the trees. Should have stayed there and finished my sandwiches. Yet again a lovely course pick Frans fransslabak and I have to say the courses are the only thing that keeps bringing me back here as my standard of TST golf presently is woefully short of what is needed here to make cuts.

Opening up with a 61 this week, and certainly had chances to go lower as well. One of those rounds where most of the approach shot conditions were tailor made for my club distances, and I put a fair few close to pins to negate those bloody shadows. Enjoyable round

Did not tear it up either Ben, those winds in round 1 hurt me and round 2 woes were basically self inflicted. -2, -3 for -5 at the cut. Great course but the better players will rip it up. Not hopeful for a weekend tee time, but I AM available. Onward.

-8 second round. Hit a few ordinary tee shots putting me under trees or too far from pins on a couple of par 3s. I had Frans, smiffly and trowelhead ghosts playing with me this round, I think I beat them all π

Well I'm not a low shooting monster by any means, but can be happy to sit at -13 at the cut considering how hard I wanted to make life for myself at the last 4 holes... -8 first round. Think I hit the tempos pretty well to avoid being blown close to the tree lines, think I hit a total of 1 branch and even then it was a tiny brush that didn't seem to affect the ball too much. Maybe a few yards but didn't seem to do enough damage, maybe got lucky. -5 on the second round. 15th hole was made harder by needing to shot shape around a stand corner after the first shot shape around a tree got botched up a tiny bit by grey missed tempo. Then there was a very slow tempo off the tee somewhere close around that hole, it was the one with a tree in the middle of fairway. Think I started losing the juice and getting tired of walking in the trees. 3 bogeys by being a dumb dumb too. When will I ever learn to just take a bit of time? Not an elite level performance, but my usual good standard which is somewhere in the middle and coasting through the cut. Sets me up nicely. Now googling "stores selling chainsaws near me" in case I get caught up in more trees in rounds 3 and 4. Cheers, and good luck.

There were a lot of treehuggers in the hippie days of 1969 when two famous hippies Jack Nicklaus and Pete Dye got together and tried to hug the golf course with enough trees to satisfy their peace and love agenda.
A unique course I always loved, I had to squeeze in my 2 rounds today and finished with 20 minutes left before the Wednesday deadline on the cut line with 68-69. Only got caught up in one tree but they'll be more. Harbour Town always plays so easy to me since it's way flatter and less complicated than A-gust-a-wind last week. Still, it is another course that's a lot easier for people that have played it before since more strategy and less strength is involved. Still on 16 - I got stuck behind that fairway tree and bogeyed in both rounds - I just forgot about it in the rush twice. LOL

64 and 66 in the final two rounds for me to finish -30 for the week. I got stuck behind that tree in the 16th in the final round as well, tried to hit a big cut around it but it caught some invisible branch above and went into that bunker on the left. Can't remember if I made par or bogey after that though.
Either way I think that's my lowest weekly score on this tour to date which is nice.

Made the cut, which is great, and was actually doing well for a player of my caliber when I came across a German in the final round. Was on 15 or 16, trying to block it out and it is almost working. Oh but I do remember I beat my rival Mr. Tough SkyBlueBen and a new up and comer in our game Mr. Matchen Harveydog500. Well played fellas, let's meet on the Grid where you can put me in my place. Onward!

Yup, definitely found more trees at the weekend. So as the woodcutters that I hired come around, I went -5, -1 on the weekend to finish a quite lowly but yet decent enough -19. Getting bounced too close to trees really ramps up anxiety in a hurry. Never before did I think something as relaxing as being under a tree could be so nerve hitting when you're not at all sure if you're shaping the shot enough or if I will still catch something anyway even though I'm doing my damn hardest to check above me. At least next week looks to be way more open, thank goodness for that. ...but at least I topped the one putt category on PC this week? And somehow hit 24% from long even though my putting never felt that great? I'm never finishing tops of anything in TST, so seeing myself top of anything for once feels... odd. Cheers, and good luck!
