DRINKWATER BASIN CLUB (ELEV. 10,742 ft.) Welcome to Drinkwater Basin Club, my entry into the 2022 World Cup of Design. The course is set high in an alpine basin in the San Juan mountains of southwestern Colorado, so much of the upper slopes of the basin lie above the tree line. In addition to the course, the property features a par-3 practice area between the 2nd and 4th holes. It also boasts two fully operational ski lifts servicing over 30 trails: the Red Pine Double (between the 1st and 18th holes) and the White Pine Triple (left of the 2nd fairway) - as well as the Coalminer's Daughter Ski Lodge at the base of White Pine. It was a bit of a scramble to finish this one with a lot of hiccups down the stretch, but we made it in under the wire. It is a very dramatic and rolling course that does its best to let the beautiful land dictate play. Hope you all enjoy.

This course is awesome. So many fun shots and the land movement makes for a ton of cool views. Quality course, Petro

Such bold sculpting that you can't really see from the plot i.imgur.com/akSeQ97.jpgThe log cabin clubhouse i.imgur.com/TSg6gSQ.jpgI found the tree school i.imgur.com/w4OeNOc.jpg in the corner. I missed the fairway with my first drive and hit my approach long (forgot about the altitude and thin air). Thought I hit a pretty good chip only to watch it sail past and down off the green for an ugly bogey. On two hit the perfect drive and one of the worst 3W's you will ever see and then one of the best flops for an eagle. Talk about a mixed bag. Cut a 3H into 3 which looked good all the way, then lipped out my birdie. That 4th fairway has some decent slope! Another green rejecting my approach shot. The false front on 6 claims another victim but can't defend against my 8I chip. A 3 putt bogey on 9 means I turn 2 under. A couple more rotations on 12 and it would have been special, having to settle for a 10" birdie. A wild swing on 14 meant that par was a good score. Sunk a monster on 17 for birdie and then another lip out on 18 to close with 67. Really fun course with the elevation, slope, wild greens and really lovely planting.

Loved my round here. What really stood out is the natural green sites that drape on the landscape so organically. One of the best ways I’ve seen it done in this game.

Yup. This is good. Don’t know if I’ve played a course in the game that matches the expanse of this place. Awesome sculpting on the outside of the plot as well.

Sculpting gawd. The spaces you create are outrageous. Not sure many other people go to the level of sculpting detail with background work that you do. Good luck Petro!

Tons of fun - thought the short fours were good, as ever, but it was the par threes that really did it for me on this one. Nice to see you going a bit more back to the Carbondale vibe as well.

Thought this was great. Echo Ben's statements, to be fair.

Wow - not sure what to say. Thanks to Dan and the judges for running a great contest and props to all the courses in this contest. Makes it all the more special to have beaten some incredible courses.
With college and everything this is likely going to mark a significant decline in my contest entries and general output (especially during the school year) so this is a pretty satisfying way to do that.
Always the bridesmaid, finally the bride. LFG

Hey tpetro, best winter version of a course I've seen in the game. The elevation changes were challenging and fit the course perfectly with the ski resort.
