Attrition Valley GC is an aptly named track set in the mountains of the northwest US. At 7630 yards and par-71, the course can play very long depending on the conditions. The course has two different sections - the almost heathland inner section and the high wooded outer holes set hundreds of feet up the mountains. Try not to be distracted by the views when choosing clubs. Especially on the par-3 14th with a drop of over 120 feet.
Preferred conditions - high winds are really tough, but can be fun. The greens are at a default of 176, but have been tested at 187. Wind is optimal from either the east or west. Depending on which you choose, the longest holes can be with or into the wind. Holes like 1, 4, 7, 11, 12, and 13 are really tough into the wind. On the other hand, if you can manage those, holes like 3, 6, 8, 9, 16, and 17 have a generous helping wind which gives you serious birdie (or better) opportunities. Switch the wind around, and the opposite happens. If you prefer north or south winds, you'll have a crosswind on most holes with some helping and some not.
There is a stretch of holes from 10-13 that are really tough. This section is exactly where the course gets its name. Hang on through that stretch and you've got potential birdies at 14-17. Also, many fairways are contoured opposite of the doglegs. There are optimal landing spots and the farther off the tee you hit it, the worse your bounced will be. This is not a grip it and rip it course. Even the 490-yard par 4s could (should) be played with 3W off the tee. Enjoy!

Really enjoyed this course Chuck! I’ve only been around a little over a year but in the courses I’ve played from you this is probably my favorite. Loved the way it moved in and out of flatter locations and land movements which makes for different challenges every hole. Great job!

I really enjoyed this course, but you need to spell check the thread title. The plot looks great i.imgur.com/F9wmXvJ.jpg with the creeks meandering through. Lovely clubhouse with the picket fencing i.imgur.com/TSpGsFf.jpgMy round got off to a decent start with a chip just missing for birdie on the first. Then I got severely rejected on the second, coming up short. I really liked the drivable 3rd but made a mess of it for bogey. I'm not sure why the 4th needed to be split apart from taking driver out of your hand. I like the multiple options on the 6th - I chose the third of two, but it worked out. The uphill 7th has great sightlines but I'd hate to miss the drive right. The 9th is another great driving hole. Interesting hole the 13th as it plays along the ridge. The 14th was a tough putt across the yellow slope. The drivable 15th has good risk/reward with the creek coming into play to catch the errant drive, yep another bogey on a drivable 4. So much danger with the approach shot on 16, but it had to be done! Hit a peach into 17 and thought it was going to go all the way. Great solid par 4 to close out the round for a birdie-birdie finish. Really nice planting and slightly overcast day gave the course an intimate feel. 5 stars.

Played black tees on pin location 2. Overall a really fun round, incredible planting and creative usage of materials, especially for the retaining wall on hole 12. Good level of skill required off the tee but there were a few holes I felt were too sloped in the landing areas and often times had approach shots of harsh side hill lies in the fairway. The front 9 has a very open feel, while the back 9 brings you more into the forest, this is a really fun contrast. Great course!
