Hi everbody! I have a thread opened in golfsimulatorforum.com as well so you can stop reading if you saw it there allready. I am trying to build my fourth course which is called Budersand on the german isle of Sylt. I have bought the lidar and successfully transformed the xyz to las and also added a classification which was missing, both with LAStools. The data looks perfect when I view it in Fugro. When I try to run it through Chads tool the problems start. The Lidar provider said the EPSG was 4647 which doesn't work (black screen in preview). So I tried 25832 which I succesfully used in with my other courses. I do get a preview then but it doesn't show the course in the right window. Also with this EPSG the tool says OSM is busy. I tried all the numbers I found on epsg.io/?q=germany without success. When I get a preview it is allways the same wrong one and it allways says OSM is busy. With other EPSGs I get black previews but OSM is not busy. I tried to find the correct ESPG with LASInfo but there ist nothing in it. I tried the tool with old data from the other courses I built and there was no problem with 25832 and everything worked well. Could it be a problem with the transformation or calssification? I would be grateful for any help! Besides the money and the time I allready spent I would really like to build the course because it is top 3 in Germany and one of the few true links we have. Ivo

Could you share the LAS/LAZ file and the metadata included with it? I would be happy to help search, but I am not positive where you are downloading the LIDAR from.

The OP created the .las file from an XYZ file. There isn't any metadata. More than likely the XYZ file did not contain sufficient data for Chadstool.

This is what the data in the XYZ looked like: 32454000.00 6068000.00 13.14 32454000.00 6068001.00 13.10 32454000.00 6068002.00 13.09 32454000.00 6068003.00 13.11 32454000.00 6068004.00 13.16 32454000.00 6068005.00 13.22 32454000.00 6068006.00 13.26 32454000.00 6068007.00 13.30 32454000.00 6068008.00 13.32 32454000.00 6068009.00 13.26 ...
This is what some other XYZ data looked like that I successfully used in Chad's tool after transformation: 550000.50 5936000.50 29.45 550001.50 5936000.50 29.43 550002.50 5936000.50 29.41 550003.50 5936000.50 29.39 550004.50 5936000.50 29.37 550005.50 5936000.50 29.35 550006.50 5936000.50 29.39 550007.50 5936000.50 29.43 ...
The only difference was that the second one contained classification which I had to add to the problematic one. Nevertheless the data looks good in FugroViewer and also in the left preview window in the tool. It's just that the right window won't show the correct picture. I still think that 25832 should be the rigth ESPG but I have not the knowledge to understand why the tool shows the wrong picture.
I'm desperate...

If the vendor told you that the EPSG code is 4647, epsg.io/4647 , then that is probably the correct code to use. What coordinate system did you use when you converted it?

I must admitt I didn't do anything regarding that. I just used the txt2las converter without any changes in the projection settings. This is how I used it last time. Am I suppossed to set anything there?

Am I suppossed to set anything there? Yes. If you must use txt2las, you should be using the command line. Go through the readme for txt2las. And how did you add classification?

I tried an awful lot of settings now. I managed to set EPSG 4647 (which ist what the supplier told me) and also 25832 (which I used before for Germany). I never get the correct picture in the right window.
Unless anybody has got another idea I will give up, which is a shame because the lidar looks good in the viewer.

I also set the classification in the command line of tst2las. It seemed to work as the viewer shows all point classified as 2.

Is the original xyz file only ground level without any vegetation and/or buildings?

Hello, where did you get the lidar data from? I was not able finding a way to get lidar for Germany.
