Oof. I think this is harder than BSV. And more because it’s sneaky hard. It look benign off the tee and feels like it should be a walk in the park (no pun intended) and then it just constantly bites you in the ass for 18 holes. Especially with the conditions turned up to tournament level. Please tell me there’s a tamed down members version coming. Lol

Lol Ha, perhaps. mattf27 has suggested I make one but to be honest, many of the hole designs are based purely around making things awkward and difficult, so it might be easier to just start over for a CC version lol. It really is the purest anti playability course I could manage whilst still feeling I was (just about) toeing the line..

Enjoyed the Donald Ross vibe - played as a warm up for my CC rounds and have decided I might skip this week - its like being punched in the face 18 times but you want to go around again and see if you can duck one of the punches
Also that par 3 I putted into the water and that will forever haunt me..
Anyone know a good therapist?

I am speechless over this course. If you want to have to think about what felt like every drive, approach, putt, chip etc play this course. I cannot say enough good things about this course. It is beautiful and brutal at the same time. I have not had so much fun, pain, mental drain on a course with a videogame in many, many years. I played last night Pro TGC tour settings default pin 1 and shot +20. I could not wait to play again with a different approach. I decided to play same settings same pin etc but play for pars/bogies, instead of the usual pars/birdies with a goal of shooting par. I ended up with 2 birdies, one bogie rd of -1. Granted I made a lot, like 6-7 knee knocker 5-10 foot par saves, but also birdied the 13th par 3 that I took a 10 on the night before. This is really one of those course where the more you play it the more you realize how to attack or not attack it. B101 thanks for this brilliant course. Side note, at least right now my +20 rd is not showing up on Xbox, very strange as I did finish it and screen shot the scorecard. Have fun everyone off to try the other pins this week.

Never had so much fun getting my teeth kicked in by a course. Quality quality course. Would’ve been fun to see how this course would’ve fared in past major contests.

Hey buddy is everything ok? Is there something that’s bothering you that drove to design this beast of a track? You know you can always reach out, I’m always here for you 😜
Jokes aside the course will lay you across her lap and spank you silly and then will turn around and slap you across the face 😬 but you will enjoy the punishment. It will taunt you and give you a glimmer of hope that you might actually birdie or par a hole or even hold a green but then it’ll turn around spit on your face give you the finger and usher you to the next hole for more punishment. You start thinking that it’s enough, you’re done, you want to take whatever clubs you have left in the bag and go home, and then you see the next hole, you think to yourself hmmm this one looks easy so you decide to chug along and BOOM once again you are spat on, punched, slapped, poked, prodded as the course laughs at you…….
Loved it……….

I had another crack at Barton Hills last night. Aside from the "bastard son" that is hole 13 I had an even par round with 5 birdies and 5 bogeys. Played using TST settings which I enjoy more than the greens with grids on. Hole 13 is a menace and the fact this hole is no. 13 is completely appropriate! I adopted hoosier404 's approach and eased off a little. With some much better course management I had a much steadier round (excl. 13). I do like the challenge this course provides. Looking forward to seeing this on tour and how the Plat People go.

Dude, this thing is brutal! Manageable, it stole my lunch money... Wonderfully crafted fairways to suck you in to thinking you've made the right choice. Then you're hitting out of the heavy rough. Like the first, beautiful drive, aaaaaaaaaand no. The steep raised greens rejecting anything but the purest of shots. The split fairways that tempt you like a Siren, "hit it here", hit it here", swish, hahahaha Sure, I'm not known for my course management but how hard can a drivable par 4 be, aka, the 5th. From my head high bunker shot I can't even see the top of the pin and then I find out there is a diabolical slope leading down to the hole, thank god those pins are tough, it was heading for the gallery. 7th, I don't think so, have a drink. 8th, weeee back you come. 9th yikes! 11th, finally as 12 foot putt for birdie, na-ha. 12h, bye-bye. 13th, you still look thirsty. I reckon I was 2 foot short. Sorry Mr. greenskeeper, I borrowed your 12th green and left a nasty divot. 14th, back on the Lebanese lawn. Missed the approach right, let me help that back off the front of the green for you. 15th, 16, lawn. Then we get to 17 and 18 which are super long and tough par 4's. That was so much fun, I'm going back for more! Oh, and some one left a tap on and the back paddock is flooded i.imgur.com/J7pmUwQ.jpg

What a nice relaxing peaceful round. Loved the environment and really enjoyed my time here. (Full disclosure I tried playing it with only a driver and putter in my bag for tf of it. Only let myself hit putter on the green) Fr tho I played it the proper way a few times and did throughly enjoy the course. Tough bastard regardless of how you play it.

Really cool course Ben, very interesting and challenging to say the least. Thrilled to see you went Ross-like, but...you forgot the light rough again buddy...

Decided to play this on max settings when it first came out and somehow managed a +2 being a try-hard about it. Tried it again with only high winds and default everything else and believe I shot -2 with a quick go through. Can't wait to give this a go on plat this week, been waiting for it!

Ported for the sadists. Haven't looked at it, haven't playtested and holes 5, 8, 11 and the other 15 certainly still suck. Have fun!
