Wow, for a first course it is very playable and nothing brutal about the assessment. Good looking plot with a fair amount of water i.imgur.com/3hVtIYi.jpgReally lovely clubhouse complex i.imgur.com/RvuWs66.jpgCool little hamlet on the hill i.imgur.com/vsWriah.jpgGreat transition shot on the first i.imgur.com/WhBWnMd.jpg with the clubhouse in the background. The first tee shot sets up nice with an elevated tee shot down to a slight dogleg left. The only thing I would change is the partially blind shot due to the mound in line with the red tee box i.imgur.com/uSPlHka.jpg. By dropping that down will open up the sightline. I'd also move the trees in the driver line over to the right (blue arrow) i.imgur.com/53yQ1L6.jpg to give the appearance of continuous trees down the right . Bunkering is nicely done. Good size first green with decent undulations. I cranked up the green speeds to very fast to see if they are still legal i.imgur.com/lTh23zc.jpg. This one is just, because it's yellow orange rather than red/orange. I hear that the really good designers design on 187 speed greens and then wind them back to their published speeds. Orange slopes are illegal pins for tours. The 7th is close as well i.imgur.com/8ov9DpS.jpgBe careful with par 4's and 5's that you ensure there is enough variation in length. You do have 5 par 4's with only 20 yards between them. (461-481). I know that undulations and doglegs can make them play different so that is also a consideration. Using splines rathe than shapes will get rid of the collar for fairway placed bunkers, unless that's the look you're going for. Your water ways are good and I like the planting around the edges. The rest of your planting is nicely done and I couldn't see any spam planting which is usually the downfall of early designers, so well played. The drivable 5th is a great hole and I got there with a 3W with a 10mph tailwind. Cool little red house on the hill on the other side of the lake. 16th and 18th was very pinched at the driving distance, and it looked a little forced. For that 17th, think about a really thin strip of fairway around the edge of the water i.imgur.com/UZCKW6K.jpg. This can be used as a drop zone for those crazy enough to go for it. (ie: me) If you go long, you get put on the other side of the lake... I love the lake house on the other side of the lake you can see when putting, I would have moved that 1 pine in front of it to give a better view. But, great first course and I believe it would get approved. Minor sculpting along some of the edges of the fairways, but hardly noticeable, I gave it 5 stars! My round so you can see it from a different perspective

Had a chance to play this last night and thought it was really good for a first publish. My only comment would be the sculpting looked a little unnatural in some spots. I’m sure that will improve with more experience in the designer. Nice course, and looking forward to what you come up with next!

Just had a chance to play this one...PS4, default settings, Pin 4, white tees. I did have one major spot of lag, putting on the Hole 8 green. The framerate was quite choppy when putting from beneath the hole location and affected my stroke. Just something to be careful of when planting a lot of grasses, trees, etc. all in one place. The Pin 4 location on Hole 13 is borderline when it comes to TGCT guidelines. It's right in the middle of a big yellow slope, with red and orange slopes just a box away: Hole 14 is just 285 yards from the tips, and yet is a par-4. This one doesn't quite work for me...there is danger here to make you think about going for the green off the tee, but the distance is so short that you're never not going to give it a go. The typical worst case scenario on this hole is that you have a chip and putt for birdie. Hole 16...I hit a perfect tempo tee shot to the middle of the fairway...only for some questionable sculpting to cause my ball to take a major bounce to the right and go into the water. Not a huge fan of the tree in play here too, after I took my drop in the fairway: Hole 17, by my count, is the 3rd potentially drivable par-4 on the course. That might be a bit too many. In general, fairways got a bit tight in spots, and I will echo the comments about some harsh sculpting (especially with some of the green slopes - they looked a bit unnatural, and there were some very dramatic red slopes that were too much) and holes being similar distances, but overall it's not bad at all - especially for a first publish! Framing is good, environment is well done, and there's some good thought to the hole design in most cases. Keep up the good work!

Great first publish! An excellent environment and very fair set up. Enjoy my round immensely. Hope you see some more action on this course. for a first publish it has a lot going for it. Good work! If you haven't submitted it I think it should easily be approved.

Thanks to the community for all the plays and helpful feedback, all has been much appreciated and very instructive. I've been trying to post some picture of "Avoncana Shallows G.C." and have found the process to be difficult. (Any helpful instructions on the hows of posting pics on the forum would be great) A lesser action is to post some particulars of "Avoncana Shallows" so here are some course stats that I neglected to post earlier.
Avoncana Shallows G.C.
Par 71 18 holes Three tees 7141 - White tees
6811 - Green tees
6465 - Red tees
Designed in the Boreal Theme
Also, I did submit "Avoncana Shallows to the TGCtours course data base and received word that it was "Approved". Not really sure what that means but encouraging nonetheless. Thanks again for the plays and instructive critiques. Greyeagle

Congrats on the approval! That means it will be included in the TGCT course database: www.tgctours.com/Course/Tgc2k21Listings?Grid-sort=Likes-desc&Grid-page=1&Grid-pageSize=50&Grid-group=&Grid-filter=As for pictures, I use Twitter. I take screenshots from my console (PS4), then share them onto my Twitter account. When the screenshots show there, I right-click on the picture, and select "Copy Image Address", and then come back here to where I would post on the TGCT forums. Above the box where you write your post is a row of icons...look for the one that looks like a photo and says "Insert Image" when you hover over it. Click that, and a box comes up. Paste the image address into the "Image URL" box, click insert image, and here's what you get:

First I'd like to thank all the people in the community that have given "Avoncana Shallows G.C. " a play, and also for all the great feedback, it is all very helpful.
I've been trying to post pictures of the course on the thread and I'm having some problems. I've tried both imgur and twitter to share photos to the forum only to not succeed. In both cases I've copied the URL and pasted it to the insert image popup, but when I click the insert image button it come through as text only. I've tried to do it both in the BBCode and Preview settings to no avail. I'm sure I'm missing something. Anyone with advice on this subject I'd appreciate input. Being new to the forums I'm not sure this is the area to asked this question, but I'll try here first. Thanks again golfers and designers for all the great input and plays. Greyeagle

Greyeagle Yeah I had problems with this too. Try Gyazo (free to download). It creates a hyperlink that you can throw right in the forum and it seems to work pretty well. Otherwise, imgur I think is a good choice if you don't want to d/l anything new.
