Better late than never, so I decided to finally post a WIP. I have been off work because of COVID and have the next week off anyway so I am going to be making a lot of progress on my course. I took some pictures before working on it today so I'd have something to post before the final deal. I live in Central Oregon and wanted to create a course that fit within in the area I live (or near the area). I am building a resort that will have two courses located on fictional canyon-- one on the upper part of the canyon, and one down in the canyon. The upper course will be the one I enter in for this contest, but the other course will be visible on holes running along the canyon. For anyone who has played golf or been in Central Oregon there are a lot of juniper trees and ponderosa pine (and other pine) but unfortunately the game doesn't really give many options for these trees so I had to use a lot of "sort of looks the same" trees. But, still have lots of planting to do. Aerial view of the plot Hole 2 Club house and the resort Hole 4 Hole 5 Hole 6 Hole 8 Hole 10

Looks great so far. Steppe is challenging. One thing you can do with the benefits of the theme though is “dirty up” some of the empty space just with land movement. Small little 2-5 foot rises in steppe create that nice look red “dirt” and you can play around with lower grass and bush planting around it to add to the emptier spots around the holes.
Try spamming the “a” button (on Xbox controller) with a single brush in “raise” mode 6 inches or so at a time. The bottom right brush on the third page is really useful for that.
Arthur Dunes is a good example, but that one is really full, might not be the overall look you are going for. Ourrazate (b101design course that I most likely just butchered the name on) is another one that used steppe I believe (possibly desert) and filled the space really well.
Looks like you’ve already done quite a bit outside the hole itself on some holes, but seeing 10 brought the planting/sculpting idea to mind

I will have to try that all throughout spots that I am leaving bare. Fortunately (or unfortunately probably :/ ) I plan to have a lot of the area planted so it may not end up being an issue. Not sure. But I appreciate the tip because that will probably help me a lot!
