I'm curious so I will ask.. From the 3 iron through the LW, how often do you go past the first two columns of Doyley's charts to pick a shot? Not chipping or pitching..just regular shots. I ask this because I don't, and maybe I should. Is there a go to shot you use from the 3rd or 4th column? Is this what you use to get an exact yardage instead of estimating?
Always trying to shave a stroke or two!

I'll never go past the first. Maybe a fraction once or twice per round. I pitch from 40-90 range. Depending on green and bunkers in front.

If I wanna hit the ball 140 yards onto a green where the flag is only 3 yards in and there's a bunker in front il whack that loft up to full on my 3 iron to get the distance needed but far less roll out

The amount of distance the ball will travel it equates to each vertical line going up on the loft chart accessible via L2 on PS4

Yes, that would be the carry yardage before adjusting for any wind or elevation changes.
A really easy way to test this stuff out is go in to the course creator. Create a one hole course, make it about 300 yards. And in between the tee box and the green, make it one really big bunker.
Then you can 'play hole', and keep rewinding your shot to do it over and over (like a driving range), using all the different club/loft combos.

I usually don't go past the first. I am more likely to use a half if I am between yardages. This is mainly because I know what to expect from the roll from my clubs if I don't go past the first box. I will frequently go to two boxes with flop shots though.

I have really come to like the 170 option of the 4i (2 bars up) and the 185ish option of 3i (2 bars up). I find going full loft is a bit of a crap shoot but still do it from time to time.
I also really like the 82 of the SW and then anything else closer I work via the pitch chart until flops make sense.

Where are these charts located or are they defunct now?

if there is a bunker close to the pin thats where I put the ball because there is an 135% chance that I will hole that shot

Always trying to shave a stroke or two! I used to de-loft (2 / 3 bars on Iron 5,4 and 3) quite a lot since the last "wind update" (the server side one - not an actual patch to dowload). After that, out of the blue, I started being awful inconsistent whenever wind went 10+MPH; so after a couple of specific tests I realized that now the more you de-loft, the more the wind will affect your shot - to the point that you need to run the math in your head 2/3 times on every approach...which is too unreliable of a process. Since then I started to almost never de-loft more than 1 - 1.5 bars and focus more on studying rollout and, if required, bounce outside of the effing green (Euro Tour leitmotiv of late...). There's more than one player that even as today swears on the de-lofting as the holy graal though - I belive that its effectivness has been tamed down more than a notch (when wind is 10+ at least).

Too each their own but the second I start using maths to play a video game is the time I stop playing the game. This game is supposed to be fun, I don't really understand why people use charts and maths to try get everything so precise.
I've been playing this game for a month or so now and I'm steadily improving, and I'm sure I'll continue to improve without the need for maths. I started by getting two strikes on CC-E, now I'm leading the tournament after 2 rounds on CC-C. You become a better player by getting more and more practice, same as any other game.
To each their own as I mentioned, but using maths to play a video game isn't for me.

I agree but a player who practices will get better but never as good as one who uses the maths with regards to accuracy
