Got to play some real golf last weekend. Since there has been talk about an "Asia" theme etc. I thought I'd post some pictures to show off what a very typical Japanese course may look like.
This course came in a bit short at only 6550 yds from the back tees, and multiple 100+feet drops planted it firmly in "fantasy" territory going by TGC standards. It may be OK and realistic with one or two holes like that, but here it got to be too much. Having two greens on every hole is a novel concept, but also a bit too much "fantasy". Also it takes away some interest in the green areas as they become very wide. The designer could well have spent some more time on the green design as many greens seem to have been auto-generated. Many pins placed on borderline yellow slopes as well which I think is a bit unfair. Bunker-work was generally good, but there were some hidden bunkers on the course. Finally - having trees in the middle of the fairway on six holes also was a bit too much, and needs to be toned down if the course wants to see some tour play.
Some "Asia" flavor... Even some red trees. But those trees in the middle need to go....

That fairway could need some smoothing... I suggest the fuzzy oval brush. Watch Canucks 101 series....
