Ok, I get that we XBox players (Series S here) are a bit handicapped by our system, but curious if it's related to the controller, or the system in general? I'm wondering if switching the controller I use could give me even a marginal performance improvement? Currently, I'm using the stock Wireless XBox controller, and think I'm screwing myself a bit more by not having the XBox itself on a wired connection. So I'm playing with a wireless controller on a wireless network, and about 15 feet or so usually from the XBox itself. I'm guessing I couldn't make this much tougher on myself if I tried. But I enjoy complaining about inconsistent tempo, so there's that. So I'm curious what controller XBox players are generally using for this game? Additionally, I'm debating just restarting on PC, so would be interested to know what controller people are using there as well.

I’ve got an X and I’m using the wireless controller. I don’t know anything differently - just need solid thumb discipline. Ha ha ha.

From my testing it doesn't really seem to matter what controller you use on XB. I even tested with a PS4 controller using an adapter that allows you to use them on the XB (Series X). It still was stuck with the same limitations as the stock XB controller.
So any controller that allows you to swing straight and with a comfortable tempo, I think that's your best bet.
As for wired vs. wireless... it's not like on PS with the different polling rates. It's the same on XB whether its wired or wireless. It's possible being wired would result in a better connection and less irregularities, but I pretty much exclusively play wireless unless my controller is charging, for what it's worth.
Now, as for PC - I haven't tested on there with an XB controller. I'll probably be getting a PC later this month or early in December, so that'll be interesting because I'll no doubt give this game a shot on that platform. However, I believe most of the best PC players are using DS4's or the new DS5 controllers on PC. But, I'm sure there are a bunch of PC players that do use the XB controller because they prefer it.

I was in Xbox for years before moving over to the PS5.
Controller doesn't matter. Pick one that works best for you.
I bought three different Elite controllers thinking it would make a difference. I Returned them all and stick with my trusty stock.

I just got the PS 5 and my putting has went to hell. I love the PS 5, I love the tee to green with my shots. I absolutely hate putting now. I’m trying to find my putting stroke. My PS4 controller was so much smoother putting. A lot of time I move the stick back and push forward and nothing happens, ball is not hit but it feels like I had a full putt.
If I can’t put I’ll be going down tiers fast.
Can I use my PS4 controller on the PS5 console?

Does the firmware in the Xbox console limit the DS4 to a lower polling rate I wonder as it was never designed to use PS controllers. Certainly a big difference on PC, the PS4 controller is so much more responsive. The swing can feel totally random at times with an XBox 0ne and Series X controller. Definitely Xbox controller issues on this game having played a few months now with the DS4. Much easier to hit a Series X controller straight than the DS4 though in my experience. I have also tried the Nintendo Switch Pro controller on PC which has the same polling rate as Xbox controllers, same tempo problems and it is a nightmare to hit that controller straight.
