Taking a different approach for this, my third course. Drew everything out by hand first, now going to try and match this in game. Wish me luck!

Love lots of this and think this approach can really help visualise a course coming together. I'd just suggest watching your fairway shapes a little that you aren't putting people in a corner. Examples being the start of 5 and 6 fairways - you're screwed if you play short right on 6 and making it a really penal hole, whereas if you have the club to carry the front bunker on 5, why would you ever play right of it? The layup short of the water is much more dangerous than carrying the bunker to the left side of the fairway and your better angle is from the left.
Good general rule of thumb: leave people a very easy way to play off the tee, but with diminishing reward. Some of these feel a touch forced.
As an aside, if you're in any way basing this on a particular course in France, definitely look at Hardelot's Les Pins course. So much fun to play and has recently had a great restoration.

Thanks b101 for the input—I'll definitely keep that in mind as I lay down the course. I did spend significant time looking at courses across France, and as you mentioned, was particularly impressed with Golfs d'Hardelot. Wish I lived on the other side of the pond so I could pop over and play it! Cheers.

Routing roughed in—should be nice and tight—and first few holes are taking shape. Added some trees, which I'm happy with, but have done zero plant planting yet, so still quite bare. That said, pretty happy with the weather/lighting and textures thus far, and hole 1 (as seen below) is shaping up to be a fun opener. Have already had to make a few changes to the layout versus the drawing in my first post (not a shocker).

Went back to my first rough sketch and used some tracing paper to create some elevation notes as I progress through the front 9.

Figured I would post something to make my progress feel real. It's been a race—a planting race—to the finish line, and it's for the most part not super-interesting work atm, not sure how the rest of the community feels about planting, but I find it's nice at first, getting the look you want down, but then executing across the plot becomes... ugh. Had planned on pounding out a lot of this during the holidays between cocktails but... life happened, and I was unable to get much done during those 2 weeks. Bit off quite a bit with this tree lined/forest plot in terms of volume of trees, but, I'm almost there and hoping to have something polished by end of next week and squeak in under the deadline! 🍸
