Finally have an interesting plot with a lot of great areas to route holes. I'm going to start some routing ideas to see what area fits the best for my vision. One of many steps done.....

Changed a bit of direction in plots and I'm going for this look now. Laid down 18 holes, although the shaping of them might be adjusted. First sculpting, bunkers, greens and fairways splined for Holes 1-3, 9 and 10. I'm loving the rough look of this and feel confident in my progress so far. Overview of hole layout Holes 1, 9 & 10 with placeholder clubhouse in foreground Approach to hole 1 (Par 4 and about 459 from back tees) Lot's of work to do, but feeling relaxed in this process.

Okay, the plot is mostly done, although a lot of micro-sculpting is being done now. I've routed all 18 holes and have completed an initial playable design of holes 1-10. I have to finish 11 & 12, as well as a few others on the back nine. I'm asking anyone willing to play a beta to play Rook-VG65-beta-v1 (It was published today at 4:23pm Pacific Standard Time)Note: you'll need to quit after hole 9 or 10, as holes 11 & 12 aren't done, as we had to complete a wildlife protection review before removing trees, etc.I'm going for a Greece vibe and any feedback on the holes on the front for playability, challenge and any other feedback would be appreciated. Please play from the blue tees and any of the four pin locations. Here are a few more pictures:

Nice start thus far my friend. Since this is a beta review I'll be as harsh as possible but you've got a nice look and course going. #1 is a bit long in my opinion - short of the green with 3 wood into the wind; I'd at least keep the green tamer if you keep it this long. I'd also move some of the planting on the right away off the tee shot to give a better view of that bunker. 2nd green is a bit turtley- i don't like it falling off on all of the sides. 3rd hole move the foreground/planting down a bit for a better view of the green. Think the framing off the 4th could be better - had trouble spotting the fairway. Not so much a fan of the completely blind shot off the tee on 6. Cool little green and approach on 7 although again a bit hard to see the fairway off the tee. 8 is a nicely framed great lighting par 3 - some grass planted dangerously close to the green though - not sure if it was autogen or not. 10th was a cool little hole but I wouldn't mind the tee being back a bit (no way I'm hitting driver - tease me a bit more) and take some of the planting off the left for a better view of the tee. Cheers.

In the meantime I've posted another beta titled Rook-VG65-beta-2022-v3Preferred tees is Blue an pinset 1 or 2 Any feedback is much appreciated. Note: I'm still working on Hole 16 hazards and greenside, as well as #2 turtle green and hazards. Looking forward to feedback and likely one more final beta before publishing. ErixonStone Just in case my post in the Rookie Design conversation thread is missed. I have published my entry for the 2021-2022 Rookie Design contest. You will find it listed as Costa Pylos Golf Club (Designed on PC and it shows in search as of 8:06pm PST today) Preferred judging from Blue tees and any pinset.
Course was routed with wind in mind and scoring is a must on the front, as the back nine has some holes with teeth. Here are two screenshots and I'm filling out a new thread with course details, etc. in the Completed Course area.
