Alpentahl Club is a fictional course set in mid Ohio (anywhere in the midwest) with some rolling hills and ponds. It was created on Xbox1. This is my 2nd Publish. (1st-Catawba Crossing G.C.)
It is a par 72 playing to 7327 yards from the Black Tees. There are 4 par 3's, 4 par 5's, and 10 par 4's 2 of which are reachable. My goals for this course were 1. Realism 2. Playability (Fair and challenging) 3. Fun to play 4. Visually appealing I would be honored to have you to play my course and ALL feedback is greatly appreciated. I hope you enjoy your round.
Thank you for looking, Bob aka (Bellevue0hi0 on twitch.tv)
Be sure to check out the hedge maze near the clubhouse! Also, I am indebted to the unselfish sharing of wisdom from all the design tutorials - B101design, Crazycanuck1985, to name a few and the live streamer play throughs, especially Whataboutameobi twitch.tv live where critical, helpful playability and design wisdom is shared by the host and the many knowledgeable chat followers.

So I finally got a chance to play your course! Here are my thoughts
Front nine- lots of really good holes out there. I really liked both of par 3’s although they were almost the same club for me off the tee. The hills and valleys of the course really stood out to me as interesting. Lots of elevation work and especially enjoyed the short par 4 around the lake.
Issues I noticed- the course would benefit from a lot more work on smoothing. A lot of the mounds around the bunkers and within some fairways( like number 2) are just to steep and cause odd bounces. Try to smooth them out a bit more.
I also found the random grass clumps to be unrealistic and not actually aiding to the course. I think some of that around the bunkers could have worked better for you because the course appears like the planting was random which I don’t know if you were intending.
Back Nine-
Again really interesting hole design. I especially liked the 12th with the pipe connecting the two ponds- I’ve used that technique too and it looks nice in your course. I thought 11 might actually play better as a par 4 because there was really no reason not to go for the green in two and I had an easy birdie. The 18th tee shot is really the best on the course. It’s absolutely a great view and good strategy.
Overall this is an enjoyable course with really sound hole design. I think with some more smoothing and a little less random grass throughout the course you’ve totally got the foundation for creating great courses! Keep up the good work!

Hey Bob, Played your course yesterday. I am also a 2nd publish and in this contest as well, and was trying for the same things as you stated in the bio of your publish. Liked the look of your course .Planting was good overall but patchy on some hills. The contours on some fairways gave a few severe bounces but they were consistent overall.I appreciated your subtle green slopes(not too severe-I tend to do the same thing) which makes putting realistic in my opinion. Fairways had a good width and shape and bunkers were placed strategically. I think they need some sculpting to soften a few edges. (I am weak on bunkers myself). I hope this is helpful and good luck in the contest. If you get a chance check out my entry Serpent Creek Golf Club and send me a critique.I would appreciate the feedback.

jhs - Thank you very much for the play and the detailed feedback - it means a lot to me. Glad you liked the Par 3's on the front and the hills and the valleys and the driveable par 4- #5. Agree with your smoothing observation - I notice looking at other courses how the elevation flows a lot smoother than mine - I need improvement there for sure and on bunker sculpting. No 11 - I had the same thought about risk/reward on that hole - the pond on the right just wasn't enough of a risk to not consider going for it. #18 tee shot framing was probably my best -thanks for noticing. If you ever need play on a course design I will gladly repay for your help. Thanks again, Bob

Really challenging club. After bogeying the first I thought I was in trouble. Then I bogeyed the 5th and I was looking down the barrel. Got back to square at the turn hen had a couple more birdies until the 16th and then scrabbled home.
My only judgement was that there could have been some more sculpting om a couple of holes. Some of the edges of the fairways were a little wavy.

Agree completely with the sculpting- I need to smooth things out BEFORE I start planting. And am very grateful for the video - you are a great asset to the designing community with your plays/feedback. Believe me, it means a lot to us newer designers. I also try to play the 'Completed' courses that don't get much attention.
Thanks again, Bob
If you ever need play on any course I am always willing.

Nice course Bob. I think you have a good eye for framing and sight lines, and the course playability was pretty good. Finished -7 but had to work hard for it, making a couple of lucky chips and long putts to keep my card clean.
Others have mentioned the sculpting and I agree it’s pretty extreme in some places. Surfacing around the green was also inconsistent on some holes. I recommend using the “toggle second surface” option around your green splines.
Small detail, but I noticed you kept the default flag and tee marker textures. Changing those can give your course more of a customized look.
Finally, the clubhouse looks great and the maze is nice touch. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for future designs, and good luck in the contest.

I was going for the no light rough and no fringe look for better or for worse. Will play with the flag and tee textures next course.
Thanks again, Bob
