Hey Everyone,
May I present my entry into this years CC Design Contest - Warley Heath. Warley Heath takes inspiration from some of the classic heathland courses found throughout the UK, with tall pines, plentiful heather and strategically placed bunkers featuring throughout.
The courses is a par 71 and maxes out at 7,017 yards from the back (Gold) tees. Strategy is key to scoring well at Warley Heath, particularly with the firm and fast fairways and lack of a first cut of rough.
This is my first design contest entry so any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
4 elements to be judged - please play from Gold Tees: Template Hole - #8 (Road Hole) Centre Line Hazards - #2 and #9 Par 3 <125 yards - #12 Driveable Par 4 - #15
Enjoy your round at Warley Heath!

What a wonderfully relaxing course. Feels like a warm, late Sunday afternoon where there is a public holiday on the Monday so no need to rush back to town. The course played very well. The greens had very subtle breaks because of the firmness and speed I had trouble reading, so that kept me on my toes. The holes have lovely clean lines without a lot of elevation, the minimal fairway bunkering allows you to concentrate on which side of the fairway you need to be on. You need to be careful that you are accurate without any first cut because that heavy rough can play havoc!
#2. I had a decent breeze over my left shoulder so snuck it up the left side. With the wind I think I would have carried the fist small bunker anyway. The clouds came over on my second shot which took all the colour out of the hole, so I'm weary of using them. Missed my chip for eagle and had a tap in birdie. #8. Took the tiger line over the bunkers and hit a lovely drive. Blasted my birdie putt way past the hole and made my 4. Lovely planting around the bunkers, simple yet elegant. #9. The centreline bunker was out of play for me into a decent headwind, so caused no problem. I nearly got back to the elevated pin and made a decent birdie with a firm putt up the hill. #12. Lovely little par 3 that I misread and forgot about the elevation, missing the green long and left, rolling into the heavy rough. A tricky pitch got me back on the green and a tap in par. #15. It might be drivable in length, but I couldn't figure out how to get there with some very strategic bunkering. I was so confused I hit a red slow and hit it into the heavy rough of the right bunker. Horrible chip and a 2 putt left me with a par.
So a decent round on a lovely course that is very relaxing. It would be lovely to sit back in the clubhouse on the terrace, watch the sunset and enjoy a well deserved pint.

This looks beautiful. I'm a sucker for heathland courses living so near them IRL so I'm looking forward to giving this one a play

15eicheltower9 and mctrees02 - thanks so much for the course photos, being on PS4 I struggle with that so it means a lot sandgroper - the play through video and feedback is really appreciated, I hope you enjoyed your round cd06 - I'm not too far away from the heathland course either, hopefully you think it's a decent representation and you enjoy your round trailducker - thanks for giving the course a go and good luck in the contest too!
