Hi everyone,
I am relatively new to the forums. I have recently finished my course Eagle's Bay. I am hoping to get the word out and get some feedback as to how well I did. I am designing on a ps5 but do not know how to take all the cool pictures I see in the forums or how to post them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am not really big on the social medium platforms so I am hoping to get the word out here. Any advice would be greatly appreciated and I would love to get some more feedback on my course.
Thanks guys

Hi There- I'm pretty new myself here and have published two courses so far but I wanted to give you some feedback. I imagine most of the other guys are bsy reviewing all the fancy national treasure courses but your post reminded me of my first one here so I thought I'd help you out!
First, I hope I'm reviewing the right course. I typed the name exactly as you did here and 3 very similar course names came up. But here goes-
First off, I'd say this is a really nice effort for your first real go at the designer. Lots of great elements to this course. I though the par 5's were probably the best aspect of the course as they all require some thoughts and are not overly done. I also thought most of the bunkers were really nice. A few at the start of the course were a bit flat but overall some nice work.
Now for the constructive feedback. First off, I thought the environmental areas( the rocks and grass areas) were way too plentiful and way too close to the greens. They also just seemed to be randomly placed and did not fit with the landscape( like were not all in low areas or even connected.) In addition, you made them out of bounds which makes it a way to punitive consequence for hitting them in there. I know what you were going with here in terms of "look" but overall I really felt like the course would be far stronger if you included these areas sporadically and or made them feel more connected to the overall land.
I would consider either using a first cut all over the course or not at all. You used it around the fairways but not around the greens and that was a strange look.
I really don't like the random rock look at all but maybe that's personal preference. Real golf courses hardly ever have rocks near the line of play and often yours are really close to where a missed hit shot would go. They also often just look plopped down.
I thought your use of boats was too much too. Again maybe personal preference but it just seemed unrealistic.
In addition, almost every hole is flat- there are almost no noticeable uphill or downhill shots. I'm not sure that's what you intended or if you are still familiarizing yourself with that aspect of the designer but some elevation change would be nice.
Specifically now on the holes: I thought 7 was your best hole as it flowed the best and had the most strategy. The short par 4's were also pretty well done and the strategy elements were pretty obvious without forcing anything. I thought 17 was probably your worst hole as the green was way too small for a 220 yard par 3. If that same green was maybe twice as big you'd have a great hole but with the size being so small it made hitting it impossible and took away all the strategy from the hole.
As I said, for your first effort I think this is a real solid one. I hope some of the more experienced guys come along and give you even more feedback and I hope you recognize that my feedback is meant to help you!

Just wrapped up a round here. I've only published two courses as well, but know that the feedback I got from the community was super helpful. Just to echo some of the previous sentiments, this is definitely a solid track for your first time around, I though for the most part the planting was nicely done in most spots, and the bunkers also felt pretty solid for the most part as well—which is not easy to do on your first course. I think the main issues are, 1) some of the fairways started a little too far up, meaning if you want to hit 3 wood on a 400 yard par 4 and happen to have a wind in your face your ball won't even make the fairway. 2) The out of bounds stuff is, as mentioned, far too punitive. Reserve out of bounds for spots where the it would basically break the game if your ball went in there (think: cliffs, ridges etc). 3) COnsider speeding up those greens, they're super slow. Overall, a good start! Spend some more time in the designer and get that second course underway, you'll see a huge difference between your first and second course (I know I did). Cheers.

THANKS FOR THE INFO. I NEVER THOUGHT TO USE THE SECOND CUT AROUND THE GREEN BECAUSE IT AUTOMATICALLY PUTS THE FRINGE THERE. THE ONE DISADVANTAGE I RUN INTO WHEN TRYING TO DESIGN A COURSE IS THAT I HAVE NEVER PLAYED A ROUND OF GOLF BEFORE, SO I DO NOT HAVE THAT EXPERIENCE TO DRAW ON. I WILL GO INTO THE COURSE I AM CURRENTLY WORKING ON AN ADD THE SECOND CUT TO THE GREEN TO SEE HOW I LIKE THE LOOK. I ALSO STRUGGLE WITH HOW BIG OR SMALL I SHOULD MAKE THE GREENS. SOMETIMES I THINK I AM MAKING A GREEN THAT IS THE SIZE OF A SMALL COUNTRY. LOL
I AM GLAD TO HEAR THAT THE BUNKERS LOOKED GOOD AS THAT WAS ONE OF MY BIGGEST CONCERNS WAS TRYING NOT TO OVER SCULPT THEM BUT NOT LEAVE THEM FLAT EITHER.
I MADE THE OUT OF BOUNDS AREAS AT THE LAST MINUTE AND WAS SECOND GUESSING MY SELF THE ENTIRE TIME. SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO MY GUT.
AM I ABLE TO GO INTO THE COURSE AND CHANGE THAT AND THEN REPUBLISH IT?
