Pandora Legends (Season 15)
Over the past couple of years, Pandora has evolved from a single player tournament into a team – based average scoring round robin tournament.
We’ve seen lots of players come and go as has every Society, and we are hoping Season 15 sees more of these return!
For the first time in Pandora history, we are going Swing Timing free.
It’s not all fun and games though for those who already see the bright lights of the winner’s podium. As we have for the last couple of season’s, all players will take part in a Placement Tournament where every player signed up plays a few courses over a set period to achieve a placement score.
This placement score will be averaged out over the courses played eg
Round 1 – 68
Round 2 – 72
Round 3 – 60
Round 4 – 64
Average = 66 strokes
66 Strokes becomes that players score.
Once all players have registered a score, I will formulate teams to give an even spread, as near as I can, which acts as a handicap system (we all know how much the handicap system DOESN’T work).
Player 1 = 55
Player 2 = 75
Player 3 = 65
Player 4 = 82
Player 5 = 63
Player 6 = 71
Player 1 will join Player 4 with a combined average of 68
Player 2 will join Player 5 with a combined average of 69
Player 3 will join Player 6 with a combined average of 68
And so on…
These teams then play a round robin tournament over 12 rounds (depending on team count) to determine a winner.
10 points for a win.
5 points for a draw.
The change for this season is in the difficulty setting!
We've got rid of that pesky swing timing, adjusted some other settings to make it a chance to get back to what we all love...good scoring opportunities on good looking courses in a virtual golf world where you can be whatever you wish!

Not sure about no timing. Some players shoot really low scores with the current settings. The current settings are Pro with timing. Maybe Pro Am with timing to lighten things up a little.

At the moment, in the test society I have running we are set at LEGEND with no timing, and a few other things....working well It's more like what you'd 'want' to achieve out of virtual golf rather than a Sim, and we'll see how it goes. Setup a few rounds using Play Now and see what ya think. All Pro Vision settings off giving no yardage, just an indication of wind direction and strength. I'll drop a couple of screenshots here shortly |

Hey man, thanks for the invite. I don't enjoy playing without swing timing personally so I'll give it a miss but seems like a nice alternative for those guys that do like it. Good luck with it!

I am playing bulls**t since the infamous update and switching to the PS5 didn't make it better. I am somehow stuck into more in-real-life golf, with many pars and just some birdies. Very average rounds.
I am therefore open to any change from the usual settings, so count me in. My only concern is the summer holiday time, I am not gonna play for August. So maybe don't count me in for this one, if your calendar is planned including a round per week in August, but if you dont mind I will play some events in July to see how I like your new approach.

Dave, Count me out for season 15. I prefer Master w/ Timing (yes, glutton for punishment) - and didn't mind playing on Pro for Pandora, but I've played without swing timing and it is too much like robot golf for me and not enjoyable. Sure the scoring is better - but that's not why I play. I enjoy the challenge and feel the game is not 'broken' now like many claim. IMO it's right where it should be. BTW - just wanted to give you heads up for next week's season 14 tournament (July 4-10) - I'll be unavailable to post my rounds.. RHMIII - tagged you to let you know.. |
