Чуйский тракт Tucked away between Kazakhstan and Mongolia lies the Altai Republic, an unusual autonomous zone of Russia. Known for it's gorgeous yellow trees in a unique Alpine Steppe environment, this cold, rocky and unforgiving terrain doesn't lend itself well to a golf course. On top of that, Russia historically has not been keen on golf (something...something...bourgeoisie capitalist...something...something) However, in recent years, Altai has been experiencing a tourism boom due to its amazing landscapes for the outdoorsy types, and Russia has now a fast growing list of high quality golf courses being built. Rotting away off the Chuya River lay a long since abandoned USSR military outpost, little is known about what its purpose was. Hoping to attract more tourists to the area, a golf course was commissioned to be built on the site with the base being repurposed into a resort. Considering at the time there was little golf equipment or terrain movement equipment available to the locals, hundreds of gulag "volunteers" were bussed into the region to dig out the course by shovel. The quality of the result of these endeavors I'll leave up to you to to decide. Commonly the course plays with westerly winds and dries out to the point where very firm can barely describe how rock hard the surfaces play. However in Spring when the course freshly opens, the course is still soft from the snow and gently greets players with a friendly easterly wind. We recommend Springtime to visit for the amateur golfer while the more avid golfer can expect a challenge in the summer into the fall. Default Time of Day and weather is the course in Spring or Autumn, For summer weather try Dawn/ Clear.

Loved it, a strong contender for sure.
I couldn’t help but notice a few of the holes only had one tee. I can’t believe the “volunteers” didn’t make enough tee markers.

I generally only have the Best tees on each hole in the contest version and then publish a tour version later that splits the best tees into separate manipulated ones (Also I ran out of time lol) also lets me do some small tweaks based on feedback before I submit the tour version to TGCT

Damn Q…another stunning environment. The opening look and with a par 3 is stunning. Course played great…you suckered me into going for the green on #3….promptly fasted it down the enormous slope and made 6 lol. Really liked the flatter holes along the water, great views there as well. Overall, a strong contender for sure

Been looking forward to this one for a while. Based on these preview shots, it will not disappoint. (Pre-emptive) Props on the rockstar entry to the contest! This will probably end up being one of my favorite environments in the contest.

Glad that you got it in under the deadline!
Unreal use of steppe here. Unique creation you made out of the theme with the lighting and orange trees and views across the plot. Kudos and good luck!

Really nice.. During my round, I could hear Jordan Peterson describing the round here as "a descent into chaos, especially when your swing has left you, it's all you can do to keep it together, it's a hell of a thing man." As he continues, "We'll, this reminds me of Aleksander Solzhenitsyn's the 'Gulag Archipelago' where you have to face some monsters, and it's scary! That's why it's important to CLEAN YOUR GROOVES!" "Well, that's all I have to say about that"
