Maybe I like it, maybe I don't. A couple of pictures of a (very) early stage. I'll fix the big dent in the fairway.

POEM A semi-blind par-3. The longer the tee, The less you can see. What I’m hoping to achieve is for each pin to only be visible from certain tees.

I have at least 3 courses in the works and don’t yet know which one I like.

I have 7 holes built now and everything seems to be steaming along nicely. I have no pictures of the others courses because there is nothing to picture yet, but I am working on a beachside course and a clifftop course in case I like any of those better. This is a 165 yard par 3 with a long, slender green set into the sandy hills. It is at an early stage with only rough sculpting and no planting. As you can see, I've not even added all the tees.

Updates from PQR.I have managed to fulfil additional criteria without trying. Pictured are the 1 st, 2 nd, 8 th, and 10 th greens, all within 200 yards. In the top right of the frame you can see what will become the 4 th hole - long par-4 uphill to a punchbowl green; the 5 th - a short but tough par-3; and the 17 th; a small par-4 with a big decision. This is the view from the other side, looking back over the 5 th green. Not even 130 yards long, but you'll be happy with par. The sandy area you can see in the middle distance will be altered in the near future. It looks as if PQR will be my entry, it seems to be the easiest one to progress on.

Summary of ChangesHole 2: moved pin positions so the hole gets shorter from Thu-Sun, beginning at 224, ending at 185. Hole 6: changes to green sculpting, specifically the front portion, flattening part of it to bring the false front more into/out of play depending on approach angle. Moved central bunker further from tee. Hole 7: mulling over a new back tee. Hole 8: changes to landing zone in fairway. Hole 9 (pictured): replaced front tee with a new back tee to justify this hole being a par-5. Added bunker to left of fairway, narrowing landing zone, improving the tee shot. Hole 13: I have built hole 13. Got a fairway and everything. Hole 17: Sculpting in landing zone. Hole 18: built a clubhouse. Holes 14-16 haven't been built yet, I'm still finalising my ideas for them. I am extending hole 16 because I suspect it will end up playing too short at present length.

Hole 18 looking from the green back to the tee 18th green with possible hole locations - arrows indicate major slopes/runoffs. Overview of the whole plot from behind the 14th green. I am reconsidering some planting choices made early on, as seen in the pictures of holes 1 & 18. Hole 11 - a personal favourite. A driveable par 4 if the tee is moved up, a devilish little hole when they're moved back.

Plainview Quail Ranch. Opening Soon. PQR will be published in the coming few days after all the last minute tweaks are made and I have finalised tee & pin locations. This course will have manipulated tees a la Q , allowing for each round to be played from a different tee. This brings me nicely on to a feature I wish to highlight. Thanks to manipulating tees, holes 8 (left) and 11 (right) are both driveable par-4s, but never during the same round. It will also allow centreline hazards to come into play in different ways, like in the hole below. Sometimes you can carry the bunker, sometimes you'll roll into it. Bring your best tee game to the sixth. The course will satisfy the following required elements: driveable par-4; par-3 <125 yards; at least one blind tee shot; at least one 3-shot par-5; at least two holes with a centreline hazard. Hole 11, overlooking the oil derrick that funded the course's construction. Milkshakes all round! There will be a thread posted in Completed Courses upon publishing this weekend. Don't miss it! "Not much grows, just rocks." "I drink your milkshake!"
