Just a quick question to anyone who may know. I was wondering while I've been away for roughly a year now, have there been any progress on Victorian Lidar.
Specifically the Melbourne Metro area......There are some amazing courses in this area and I'd love to be able to create them with Lidar, last time i heard there was not a great deal of it in Victoria. Some courses I'd love to work on include Huntingdale, Pennisula Kingswood Country, Kingston Heath, Royal Melbourne, Commonwealth Golf Club.
If someone could let me know if the Lidar has extended and where to find it that would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance. I haven't looked for months but to my knowledge there'll be no freely available lidar in Melbourne at all. As McTrees mentioned, I've done RCRs of PK North, Victoria GC & RM Composite and there's a good Kingston Heath already in the game too (Heatheron Kings). There's no Huntingdale or Commonwealth (or Metro for that matter) so you could always try your hand at those using OSM and manual measurements but it is VERY time consuming  Hope that helps. |

Yes, you would still need to bring the OSM data through the old game first unfortunately.

There is plenty of lidar data out there it’s just in the wrong format.
I’ve downloaded Qgis and looking at how to convert dem data to laz
If we can get it to cloud point format then we’re good.
Wonder if Chad has any thoughts on using different lidar data?

For Australian data, I can download LAS files/data from elevation.fsdf.org.au/ and can open the LAS file in Fugro Viewer. However Chad's Tool doesn't accept it. ie when searching for file to import it shows no data files applicable/suitable. Any ideas on this? ie is there a very specific file element that is needed besides a LAS file? |

Managed to work out how to bring in the data to Chad's Tool for Australian Lidar - well NSW and ACT anyway. YAY! Had to copy and paste a few files from the data received from ELVIS. The tool processed the las/laz files and generated the preview to select the course area. As I type it's generating the heightmaps. Will see how it goes. For those in Australia happy to show you what I did to get the Lidar data and process it.
