TBH, it's the most fun I've ever had. It's truly all I can do to put together great holes. Especially on the XB1... since I've gone all in, my best score is an 80. For me, it's the best thing that's happened to the game.

Just had a fun trip to Spain. Loved the course and adored the village. The round had its ups and downs but the back 9 helped me to -4

These National Treasure designs are an absolute blast to play. So much good stuff out there and this one was a hell of a lot of fun. Wimped out and went round at Pro and loved the design both for play and aesthetics. Great job. Alternate? I don't think so. Must surely be in the mix.

Here we go… courtesy of Crazycanuck1985, since Xbox is incapable of a helicopter view of the whole course…

This feels like a course I could really play in Spain, just turned up to 12, and I love it! Right from the start, the visuals of the course are stunning, and it’s an interesting layout. Somehow made it round in -4, with only one bogey (more on that in a second) but definitely left a few out there with some poor swings.
I loved the town. 11 was definitely my favourite hole on the course visually, with a gorgeous view all the way down to the green, river, harbour and town. Pin 2 made it a bit of a challenge, as it’s tucked behind the bunker but hitting the middle of the green and a two putt birdie was simple enough - I guess that’s why it’s index 18!
On the other hand, I didn’t really like 15. Actually, I’ll rephrase - I didn’t like 15 as a par 4. It doesn’t make sense to me, as there is absolutely no reason I can see to not go for the green; very little punishment for missing it and a potential eagle put, almost certainly a birdie, especially with how chipping is in the game. I do realise that the concept of par is actually pretty irrelevant, but I think it would affect the mindset and become a much more intimidating hole as a long par 3.
9 also didn’t make a great deal of sense to me. I can’t understand why I would want to go right of the central hazard - it could result in blocking out the approach and even if the second shot is clear, it has to fly the bunker to a tough pin. The drive to the left isn’t so difficult as to make me not want to take it on, and if this was the only option, I think it would be a tough but interesting hole. I suppose the extra fairway doesn’t detract from the hole, but it doesn’t really add to it either.
The routing is fun - I like following the cliff/ river for the first couple of holes, playing down a fairly substantial hill, and finishing with a brutal pair back up the way, and lengthy too! Not returning to the clubhouse at nine made me feel like I’d be playing in the late afternoon sun, in a buggy, calling the marshall over to bring me some drinks and snacks, so that helped contribute to the sort of European golf resort vibe.
Planting was excellent, far better than I can achieve on my Xbox! Really nice view off the first tee, with how it sort of creeps into view and threatens a stone cold top with an embarrassing re-tee in real life. With that being said, this is where my bogey comes into play. On 7, I hit my tee shot out right into a sort of ravine/waste area sort of thing. In real life, this would have almost certainly been a lost ball or unplayable, so I took an unplayable and re-hit from the tee, ending up with a bogey. In competition, however, I probably could have hit up the fairway, and still had a shot and birdie and at worst a par, so personally I’d prefer to see this sort of area as out of bounds, but that’s just me and how I want to play the game.
Also, I nailed on of my best shots in game on 17 to steal a birdie, by knocking a 6 iron to gimme range! All in all, excellent course with very little to complain about - one of my favourite visuals in the contest and a fantastic environment (maybe overdid the Spanish flags lol) and best of luck to you from a fellow xboxer!

Hey, thanks for posting and thanks for the nice critique! Yeah, 15 never really sat that well with me either and several times it nearly got ditched. However on a few play throughs a red fast or slow left you well short and I figured that a tricky chip and a longish putt might leave you struggling for par, but definitely see where you’re coming from… my least favourite hole too. On 9… shooting left you risk hooking it into the water, so if you bail out right you get a good look at the green, but from a much longer distance. You do risk leaving yourself blocked out, but with a trailing wind you can easily get past it and have no worries about the river… again I take your point, but I liked the options it provided. internal OB is always an area of debate and on balance I tend to reserve OB for a boundary or the clubhouse area etc. But yep, I see both sides, as some of those barranca areas are basically no-go and could quite easily be OB… but then I’d be answering some other guys critique instead of yours 😉 just been investing in a laptop, so investigating the possibilities of that for designing… still have a few unfinished on Xbox to complete, but maybe will use both at different times… shame you can’t have courses editable on both so you could freely move between the two.. anyway, really appreciate you taking the time to feed back in detail, makes it worth designing when you know the courses are played and appreciated! Look forward to playing some of yours!!…
