Hi everyone,
Does anyone else find that they play more inconsistently in the final round of a tournament? Has anyone found a way to combat this? I wonder what the guys scoring -40's are doing differently to the rest of us?
In the most recent Beer League course I had a very peak/valley kind of experience.... I started off with two respectable rounds, ending at -12, which should get me through the upcoming cut. I then proceeded to throw it all away and ended up at -3 overall. I have no idea why this happens, I always seem to end up in the water or something similar which wrecks my score on the final two rounds.

Interesting question... I also play Beer League but find I'm more consistent in Rnd 4. I've tracked my scoring over all 4 rounds and my scoring differential (difference b/n highest to lowest score) is as follows: Rnd 1 - 11 shots Rnd 2 - 9 Rnd 3 - 7 Rnd 4 - 6 I see this is a crude measure of consistency but an interesting stat nonetheless. Cheers

Surprisingly my first round is my lowest average round but Rnd 4 is my highest average round, i.e. 64.25 and 65.75

Generally course setups will be slightly harder in the last round.......hence slightly worse scoring. Plus, if you are doing well, then you'll start to feel a bit of pressure.....hence slightly less relaxed and therefore more inconsistent......hence slightly worse scoring!

Rob, that's possibly what it is.... but there are still loads of people scoring -20s, 30s etc
