Hi folks
I get so many downloads from the UK Defra site that can’t be processed by Chad’s golf tools 😩
Message is “Could not load filename.laz Please report this issue” I get it over and over again.
When asked to draw the box around the course the missing parts are always right where the course is.
I guess this is a problem with the laz file from the govt website and not something I’m doing wrong or something I can fix?
Cheers

Just a personal view i feel the UK data is very good, Sometimes the blending between bunkers and greens needs fixing on most courses but the overall data is excellent. What course you having problems with downloading got quite a few on my system perhaps i could send you a course file. Just an example below So hard to sculpt contours like this i find without the lidar especially on links courses what i enjoy.

Others just come up with the cannot read message a lot and it often seems to be right over the course I was trying to get. Maybe it’s just me being paranoid!! The latest I tried today was Carlisle Golf Club, Cumbria. It was across two grid squares on the Defra site and around 900mb total point cloud download. The tool started fine reading the dozens of laz files but then hit a problem on about 3/4 of the way through. When I got the window to draw the red box around the course the pic on the left was mostly black right where the course is. Do I just try the tool again or do I assume the laz files are faulty. Thanks yeltzman

Just taken a look at Carlisle golf club yep that's a large file for 2017 data, Have you tried using 2014 data that seems a smaller size.
I know what you mean now about some courses not having data available or blacked out,i just move on to another course. I have found its a bit hit and miss at times and sometimes you have to try it 2 and 3 times.

Haha 😂 I never thought of trying different year data sets. Thank you 👍

I am Hopeless with it as well, It's just hit and miss for me with the data coming out or even the open street map working at times, If it don't work i just move on to something else,Or even try the same data a different day.

I’m quite enjoying playing around with lidar. It still amazes me how it works! .... like microwave ovens and digital watches 😂 I think I’m a bit sad as I really like planting. I enjoy the artistic side rather than the engineering side. If nothing else my current flat course project will be an exercise in planting. 😊 👍

I'm even more of a novice than both of you. I've tried but never succeeded in getting LIDAR files, editing OSM maps, Using Chads Tools. I tried about 6 months ago but got nowhere so gave up. I have Chads Tools, TGC 2019 + 2K21.
Any pointers would be appreciated.
I've looked at DEFRA site a few minutes ago and could not find where the LIDAR files are.
A course I am attempting is City of Newcastle Golf Course for 2K21. If this already exists please tell me. Other courses I would like to attempt is Whitley Bay GC, Wallsend GC and Ryton GC.
