Welcome to the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia. The conditions are perfect for an early morning tee time. Cape Trepidation G.C. is a (fictional) Australian style links course set on a rugged piece of coastline buffeted by the wild weather of the Bass Straight. Defined by two beaches, rocky headlands, extensive dunefields and the eucalypt forests behind, this is a true test of golf. In close proximity to courses like The National at Cape Schank, Moonah Links, The Dunes and St. Andrews Beach, the course has features typical of the area such as shaggy and deep bunkers, undulating fairways, long grass and firm greens. 7,407 yards from the tips. If you do go around on this one please let me know what you think. I'm quite new to building courses so I'm always looking to improve, but I'm proud of how this one has turned out. Thanks guys. 3rd hole 4th hole \ 8th hole 9th hole 11th green with 9th fairway behind 17th green Overhead

Pretty solid effort. Liked the environment and with high winds this provided a stiff test. 1 or 2 of the hole designs I thought felt a bit forced but I did like the one that seemed buried in the dunes. Looked odd but then considering the environment felt very natural. WhatAboutAmeobi should give this a run on stream and provide his feedback

Yeah that 4th hole under the dunes is a cracker.

Hey everyone, thought I'd bump this as it's just been approved. (Approval took about one hour from the time I submitted it so awesome work to whoever reviewed the course!)
It's only my second completed course (there was also one other aborted effort) so I'm very pleased with that. I've got ambitions to make really great courses so obviously I'd love to hear any feedback at all about any aspects of the course that would help bump my next course up to the tour worthy category.
I tried to make this course a very stiff challenge while also remaining fair, and I believe I succeeded in that aim, but I'm wondering how others felt about the difficulty and playability (and fun)?
On to the next one, which will be fairly different - I've just got started on a parkland style course using the countryside theme, set in the Gold Coast hinterland.
Thanks guys.

I've got you penciled into my stream today. Stream starts at 1:00pm EDT - probably get to your course shortly after 2:00.

Would have loved to have been live, but timezones... So yeah for that first course of mine I didn't have a clue how the designer worked, more toolboxing some ideas and working some stuff out really. I didn't know what the blue fuzzy brush was, for example. I'm pretty new to golf video games in general - just got this a few months ago, and the last golf game I owned had guys like Tom Kite and Davis Love III as playable characters, so it was a while ago. One thing that I struggle a little bit with is balancing risk and reward within the context of this game. Take for example the 8th hole - the par 5 wrapping around the beach. My idea there was to make it a really tough 2 shotter, or an easier 3 shotter. So the fairway is narrow if you go with the driver, and there's some more room for the 3w off the tee. But then if you miss right with the driver into the rough or the bunkers it's not really punitive - you can just easily bang an iron or hybrid up there and you end up in the same spot as you would be if you played conservatively off the tee and hit perfect shots. So I've got to figure out how to get that balance right in a game where the sand and the rough are not particularly punitive. Alternatively you just chuck a pond somewhere and that's your punishment, but that's a bit of a cop out and something I try to avoid. (Except for the 18th hole there, which has a logical reason for existing in the context of the course in my head, but obviously that's not easy to make clear to a player who hasn't seen the course). Also FYI that 7th hole with the championship tee a long way from the others - I was trying to experiment with a hole that plays very differently from different tee boxes. The idea was that the course got extended for professional events and an extra protrusion of fairway was added straight ahead of the "new" tee box (to the right of the bunker) to facilitate that tee box, leaving a 170ish yard shot down to the green. Whereas the other tee boxes go straight down the "original" fairway and can be left with a short iron or wedge. And then if the player from the tips so chooses he can cut the corner which is blind and treacherous. But obviously that's a tough concept to pull off. Anyway, I'll keep working on it. Really appreciate it. Cheers, Chris

You've got a lot of good ideas and you're not far away from creating a great course, in my opinion. A little polish here, a little tweak there. Keep at it - can't wait to see what you come up with!
