I am a self confessed recovering red faster and while its still not great, i'm getting there.
One aspect of my game that was much better before the change though is my putting. When I first started in the game 8 months ago I was the worst putter on the planet but I didn't understand the different green speeds and how that affected distance. Over those 8 months I learned to putt pretty well and minus the odd 3 putt I was getting pretty good. Ever since the tempo change though I find I can't hit a straight back and straight up putt to save my life. I'm 3 putting from 5 feet and its killing me. I know my frustration level can be high but I used to be able to grind out pars but now there are quads and many triples getting back into my scorecard.
Is it just me?
Is it possible my controller is getting worn out? Is that a thing?

For me, putting has not changed with the patch, that I can tell.
Would seem very coincidental that your controller would start wearing out on the week of the red fast patch.
On my end, when I experience this, I figure its usually me (mental) or something network/bandwidth related.
I had the same issues as you, could not hit a 4-6 foot putt, and worked until I got it. But now, sometimes it still happens, where it seems no matter what I do, I pull the putts slightly to the left of where I am aiming, and it usually coincides with bad tempo days. Case in point, just two nights ago, I was struggling with getting my tempo right, all evening. I was also hitting every single putt about an inch or two to the left, no matter what I changed. (when this starts happening and I can't fix it that night, I usually just aim right for the rest of the night). But then, last night I played, and I was hitting perfect perfect 70% of the time and just barely off the rest of the time. And ya know what? My putts were perfectly straight, almost without me trying.
So I dunno. I figured its me, somewhere in my mental state of mind when playing, OR its my wife clogging up my bandwidth with cute puppy and soap making videos. LOL
Have no idea if any of that helped, but thought I'd share.

Thanks, it does. I'm sure it is most likely old age and in real life golf yips extending to my virtual golf game but man is it ever frustrating.

I've turned off swing tempo and quit playing societies and league (Was a red-fast swinger). Started playing career mode only and some of the newer courses but I've seen no change in the putting. I tried adapting to the new swing mechanics and it's hopeless for me. Putting is really the same though.

Seems the same for me, but I bought a new controller a month or two ago and ever since I've found putting more difficult to keep straight than it was with the old controller. No idea why, but my misses are usually dragging it left. I have been working on a technique to get it straighter and I have seen improvement. I just have to concentrate more and make sure I don't drag the stick left.

I tend to take one look, pick my line & hit. Don't overthink it.

I tend to take one look, pick my line & hit. Don't overthink it. I'm just a scrub at this game and suck bigly but putting has always been my strength. Your one look, hit it describes my technique. If I spend any time at all on the putt I'll miss it. That all said. I do find the putting to be a little more slippery at times. Sometimes it feels like 187's at very firm in TGC1. Video taken and uploaded from before the change. Time spent lining up both shots is my usual time, crank marker and hit. I don't look at it from different angles or go low to the ground or anything, it just messes with my head and causes me to over think and then second guess myself. Go with my 1'st instinct.
