Franklin Swamp Golf Club is inspired by middle Tennessee summer golf. The course uses hole design inspired by several real courses in the middle Tennessee area, but does not directly copy any holes from any particular course. The course eases in with the first hole, but quickly toughens up with an intimidating semi-blind tee shot on the second and a tough mid length par 3 for the fourth hole. Holes 9, 10, and 11 work their way inland around a meadowed area, and the monster par 5 #13 will prove tough to reach in two for even the longest hitters. I was really trying to focus on hole variety on this course while keeping with a consistent theme. I really appreciate any plays and constructive feedback, as I have already started my third course and should be posting a beta within the next month. I think I still need to iron out my sculpting and planting, but let me know what your criticisms are as I really love to listen to feedback! Pictures of the course: Hole #4 with a split fairway, which also connects to the fairway of hole #17: Hole #9, a reachable downhill par 5 which starts to play up against the meadow: Hole #18, another reachable par 5 with an intimidating bunker off the tee: Hole #11, loosely inspired by Franklin Bridge Golf Club's #6. A tough "island" green forces good shot placement off the tee: Hole #7, a semi-reachable par 5 where ground game while approaching the pin is paramount to success: Hole #17, sharing a sloped fairway with #4 and another "island" green: Hole #15, a short par 3 that will test your wedge game with a tough green: Thank you for your time and enjoy the course!

This looks really nice.
I'll give it a whirl when peaky IRL stuff permits.

Enjoyed playing your course today. Generous landing areas off the tee. Shot 64. Nice layout - especially liked the design of holes 5 & 6. Thought you did a great job with the slopes on the greens. Might suggest widening the light rough to 6.1 - hard to see it when it's narrow.

I became aware of the narrow rough too late into the design to go back and fix it, I'm using 5.5 on my next course, but I'll switch a hole on there to 6.1 and see how it looks! Interesting that you thought 5 was a nice hole. I definitely thought it was one of the less interesting ones (other than the peninsula). I tried to make the green a "reverse biarritz" which I think worked okay in forcing an accurate approach shot. The 6th is basically a straight-up ripoff of the hole at Riviera (10 I think?) but I made the green more perpendicular to the tee, added the water, and added an ample overshoot area to force players to really consider the wind before taking their tee shot. I think the increased angle of the green makes laying up a more viable option as well, because you have a much deeper green surface to strike into. I also made this hole before the red fast change, so now I think that laying up is going to be the option of choice because it will be very easy to red fast into the water!
