Hi all. Glad some have you have been enjoying my Course Design 101 series. Some people have asked about me making a series of videos for intermediate/advanced designers.
I have a few topics I can do:
-Advanced scuplting (smooth transitions, elevated holes)
- Retaining walls (I'm still not the greatest at these, but I can show you the method I use
- Adding difficulty to your course (the non-tricked up way)
-Advanced planting (making your course look natural)
Anything else you guys would like to see? Let me know!

Maybe advanced bunker design regarding the shapes and flow of the longer more crazy looking ones that you do, multi tee and pin setups (selecting locations and the implementation of different days/versions), advanced lighting techniques and what works best for different themes and so forth. Keep up the good work Andre and I really feel that these course design videos from yourself and others are what is pushing the envelope and elevating the designs of everyone so kudos to you. Cheers

I love to see a video on how you route the holes along the terrain that is given to you and I would also like to see you do a detailed clubhouse area because I am certainly struggling with that.

I love to see a video on how you route the holes along the terrain that is given to you and I would also like to see you do a detailed clubhouse area because I am certainly struggling with that. easy ... start with a beer, pen and a blank piece of paper ... sketch out your course. fire up GNCD .... start with a flat plot ..I got tired of flattening a new plot all the time so I just published a flat plot and load it to begin from scratch ... from there I just start laying out my course ... I hate AUTO-Generated anything ... Signs of no originality and laziness ... I hate using stock brushes for fairways and Bunkers ... again, fine for the novice that wants to pump out cookie-cutter courses once a week. The Goal is to be Different and original. Anyone can auto generate trees and terrain and start placing holes ... Be different and above the average course designer ... not like 90% that just pump out a course per week ... I could do a course like that ... but then ... it wouldn't be mine ... it would be just a software generated design with bling added. And then you claim the work ... Be an original, be a pepper ... raise your course from the ground up!

*shrug*
I always let trees and hills and such generate. Those are what provide me the ideas for the holes I lay down. I build with the ground that I'm given in mind. I change it sometimes a LOT but I've never started with nothing. A lot of times I'll see a little stand of trees or a little dip in the ground and the idea for a hole springs to mind. If I sketch it all out ahead of time I feel like I'm actually limiting myself MORE than if I just go with the flow.

* cough *
And some create paintings from a paint-by-numbers kit, and others create a masterpiece from a blank canvas.
Who cares as long as you're enjoying what you did.
I prefer the gawd mode of creative design. It's there because I wanted it there.
90 % of the time
LOL

There is no right way. Just the way whichever provides the results you want. But I have over 24 hours of videos if you're interested in searching for them. link
