ok so I was playing Yetis course last night and he has a few holes that have huge drops in elev. How the heck do you go about judging where the ball is going to land on a tee shot? Also when you have a 181 yard pin, with a 54 foot drop in elev. and a 45* head wind of 7mph, what the heck do you hit?
I would normally do 4/54 which equals 13 yards, then factor in like 10 yards for head wind so that shot would be around 178 yards not factoring roll which I subtract 7 yards, bring to the final to 171. Am I on the right track here? It seems that this still sends me long and I am not sure if my elev calc is right and it is the wind and roll that is throwing me off. any help would be great.
also how would this one come out? Par 3. 168 yards, drop of 45 feet with a 45* 12 mph tail wind? i would think -11 then -3 for a total of -14 than another -5 for roll bringing it to 149 yards?
Is that what it should be? Am I right on or missing something

Am I right on or missing something I'm not the best at working it out so I go off feel a little bit to. Firstly I divide by 3 which will mean subtracting 18 and not 10 as step one. Your wind calculation if it were flat would be an addition of about 10yds but because of the added hang time with the elevation drop I would add maybe another 2yds. Rollout is what gets me as it's still a rough guess most of the time but I usually allow for 5yds for a 4-7 iron. Think you are overs shooting due to your elevation workout which dividing by 4 is to much I do by 3. Your tailwind is off also. It's pretty much 1:1 so I'd be going 6yds for that wind and another 2yds shorter for the hang time and rollout should be roughly right but still you've only allowed for 11 yds elevation and if go 15yds... Hope this helps. Gets me close enough most times the way Doyley has indicated. I follow his method and it serves me well.

Am I right on or missing something I usually start with elevation. 54 feet in elevation divided by 3 = 18 yards less. So 181-18= 153 yards. With a 7mph head wind I usually for that distance add 1 1/2 times the wind in this case 7+3.5 so 11 yards to round off. The problem is you are going DOWN hill so the ball will be in the air a bit longer. In this case I would just do 2x the wind so 14 yards. So 153+14 = 167. If the greens are normal you can expect a 3-6 yard roll out. Usually less going against the wind, but a little more going down hill.. so I would aim for 162-164 in this case. That is my thought process. Everyone is different and goodness knows I"m hardly the authority.

F these numbers lol...im playing off my eye and ima suck Stick with the default and aim the opposite way of the wind. If it blows way off course just get another ball and try again. ... wait a minute, wrong game, sorry.
