I can't get my green side bunkers to turn out with that look. Any tips?

The best way to build bottom bunkers is to not build flat bottom bunkers.

Ha, think that was sandbelt bunkers and those are definitely 'don't'. Both definitely fall into the high risk, high reward category.
Flat bottoms are less difficult, but they are still finicky and thanks to Joe's awesome work, the bar for success is really high with them. Average flat-bottom bunkers stick out like a sore thumb, but they look so good when done right. Key is to really flatten the bottom of the bunker beforehand, then raise the bunker (to remove the autoflatten bunker surface effect) and raise around the edge of the bunker. Once you've got the sand pan flat, don't touch it.
Alright... My twelve foot tall wheat is now taken care of... This kicked my ass, but it will be well worth it. I am even more excited for how its looking.... Now if I could just figure out how to do some freaking geometric shapes w/ the spline tool... Time to scour the forums to see who's already figured it out ha
SkinniePost knows how to do the straight lines with splines, but damned if I understand how. Maybe he can explain? Think he's on a flight now, so may be a little while...

If you use the measure tool to draw straight lines for a geometric shape, then you can spline along the line making sure that each spline point is centered to the measure line.

One technique I used on te amo was that I would use water planes to see height so I wouldnt have to constantly use the measure tool. the dual plane trick is great for height measures.

Since Matty said it was okay to share techniques, here's what I did:
For the principal's nose bunkers I used the round bunker brush for the sand, and the different fuzzy brushes on page 5 to create the mounds.
For the straight bunkers I used splines (one straight line of splines, didn't create a box with the splines) and used the path widen/narrow tool until I was happy. Smooth/sharpen path until it suits your eye. Used the ultra sharp box brush (again page 5) to create the sharp drop-off around the greens. Also played Chicago Golf Club and Steamshovel Banks GC for inspiration.

You can do a straight line section with 4 points, and still be able to smooth the entire spline for curved sections to look good...
Just add two points very close together at the ends of the straight portion... The second point stops the spline from curving before it hits the beginning of the straight line.
The water table is fun to expand to full size and move up and down to find high and low points on the site. You can then find the high and low point and divide the elevation into set increases in height... And place the water tables at each point. Then quick trace with a spline and move the water up to the next measure mark, 2' to 5' works well. It really helps me to visualize a randomly self generated plot so I can route a course... Here is an example...
You can also move it up and down to find natural ponds and see drainage patterns, as a quick tool.

Anyone else designing on XBox and not have a height display on water planes? I'm measure tooling every 30 seconds. Not a major issue as i have a work around to guide height adjustments, but just curious if anyone has the same problem/fix for me.

Water planes are like objects. They don't show elevation.

sroel908: Again, no idea what can be said anymore, or what you're looking for when posting here. Every post turns into talking in circles. If it's not the game mechanics, it's the controller, or connection, unless it's an injury, or the course or the rangers...
