Designers/Community,
I don't know if this idea has been voiced before but I think with the amount of designers this website has & the wonderful resources out there for accurate mapping I can't see how as a community working together by the start of the new golf season - January we would not have in place a ton of the real world courses that the PGA Tour play on if designers were prepared to collaborate, which might mean swallowing some pride
My idea comes from only really playing this game at TGC Tours - I don't have time to play casual rounds - but when I do the first thing I look for is real course renditions & I played last night a Pebble Beach recreation & whilst I could see that yeah this was Pebble Beach there were a few things that I just wish the designer had done differently or just, in my opinion, got wrong - this isn't aimed at anyone here in particular I don't even know who designed the Pebble version I played
I thought if people, like this designer, who did a good job, would send his course off to say either of the 2 Craig's (as an example) then they could polish it up, before sending it back for publishing & it really would be better possibly outstanding
I appreciate this comes from a very naive viewpoint & this might actually require more work than I can possibly comprehend but I got to thinking that in business people work on projects before passing them up the chain for approval, altering & so forth
How would this process be much different - apart from creating a lot of work for the better designers who may be vetting the courses I can't see a downside
If this idea were to work it would make sense to create a tour list of all the courses played & where decent renditions exist allocate that course & then fill in the gaps on a first come first served basis for people wishing to design a PGA recreation - no use having 15 Harbour Towns but no Scottsdale as an example
I'm sure there are so many good real world creations out there that I don't know about because of lack of time to play the mind boggles but if there was a way of coming up with a refining process like I hope I have described then surely a nearly full calendar can be organised by this community
Thoughts & can I be the first to post
TLDR
